Just wanted to give and get opinion on types of fleece. I have now used fleece from Joannes Fabric: Blizzard and Anti-Pill. IMO I haven't seen the Anti-Pill fleece holding up any better than the Blizzard fleece. I'm wondering what others think of the different types fleece. Example: In addition to glider things, I've made braided fleece ropes for my pup to use as tug toys out of each type, and they seem to be about as tough as each other. Also, I've noticed with blankies for the gliders, between the 2 different fleece, they both appear to "pill" about the same after several washes.

The only difference I have seen is in using it to weave and string beads. The anti-pill seems to produce more "lint" as it is pulled through the hardware cloth and beads. At least it seems to in my opinion. It also seems to have more one way stretch, but that may just be my imagination.

Every once in a while I find a really thick fleece that holds up really well for years in pouches and blankets. Otherwise, I agree that I don't notice much difference between anti-pill versus blizzard holding up through multiple washings. I just try to find a not too thin fleece that I like and sometimes it lasts longer and sometimes I end up having to throw stuff I made with it out sooner. That's part of the reason I never buy fleece full price.

I have used just the anti pill fleece, I have only made 4 sets and washed only one set once. I to go to jo-ann fabrics and buy it when it is 1/2 off, so its $6.49 a yard compared to $12.99 a yard. I didnt see a difference after washing once so hopefully thats a good thing lol Oh yes, half off is the only way to buy as far as I'm concerned. I was stating that as far as the durability of these two types of fleece is concerned, I haven't noticed a difference. I'll most likely stick with the slightly cheaper Blizzard fleece (on sale of coarse) when needing to buy some and only purchase the Anti-pill for a specific color or pattern not found in Blizzard. I just was wondering if others found it to be the same case.

Oh, sorry. I was just putting in my 2 cents Ive never even seen/heard of Blizzard fleece, I'll have to check next time I go. Oh my, no need to be sorry. I didn't mean to make it sound like you said anything wrong, so my apologies. Yes Blizzard and Anti-Pill are both sold at Joannes Fabric. Definitely check in on the Blizzard, it's thick as well. I have actually used both, but for no- sew projects for the most part. I don't know if there is a difference with sewing. I did have my sister's help with a few sewing projects and she used her machine on Blizzard fleece only. After washing the two different types of fleece, I hadn't noticed any better wear on the Anti-pill than the Blizzard. I actually wanted other's opinions on the use of these two types, so your's was welcome.

I always check the remnant shelf at JoAnn's - there are frequently good size pieces there marked down - and if the fleece is on sale there is an additional markdown at the register.
Watch for JoAnn's coupons - there is almost always a current one good for discounts on regular price fabrics, or 10% off your whole purchase.
There is even an App for JoAnn's coupons for your IPhone so you always have the current ones with you.

I admit to being one of those people who HATE working with anti-pill fleece. Esp. with toy making. I HATE it. So, I use blizzard and alpine fleece as much as possible. Some people think that anti-pill fleece is superior, and they are entitled to their opinions. I just don't happen to agree. I think of anti-pill as "already pilled" fleece. LOL. I have found, over the years, that my really heavy diggers or chewers dig/chew more with antipill than with other products. I have not found anyone else that has noticed the same, so I don't hold it as a proved theory, but for me and my gliders, we do not insist on anti-pill ever. In fact, I'm a huge fan of the fleece from Hobby Lobby.
