I'm not sure how you will know if she did it to herself, of if Benny did. Keep an eye on her to see if she tries to continue the behavior. Of course she won't be able to with her e-collar on.

I wish I knew her prognosis, but I can't help there. ohwell

I am soo glad to hear she is doing better!! I am anxious to see that she does good!! Give Benny and extra scratch from me. Bubbles looks like she wants to be left alone, or just take off the collar. Sorry Bubbles for your own good.
Thoughts and Prayers going out!!

okay so now I have my guilt trip I wonder what did i do wrong or could have done to prevent this. first 2 weeks ago i took her to my dogs vet who had seen her before and he looked at her abscess and then squeezed it with his fingernails to "pop" it... I asked him if he could numb her and he said not possible in small animals she cried so loud i told him to stop i FEEL HORRIBLE i even allowed him to do that. he did the same thing on a stye on my dogs eye that day I was furious... needless to say HE WILL NO LONGER BE MY vet. I cant get over it i never heard her cry/scream like this before... maybe this all prompted her to start chewing her womb open like that. then also i didnt seperate the two after that.

other than tha she was wide awake last night running around in her small cage the entire nite. i had it right nexto my bed. sometimes she would just sit there she looked so sad with her cone on. I did however mash her corn and grapes and this morning it was all gone so she is EATING but i havent seen her drink water but that doesnt mean she hasnt I hope. I also surynge fed her some of the vets food. she did have very tiny small amounts of poop so i guess thats good her system gets going. she was up from 9 pm to 11 am and the only way i could get her to go to sleep and FINALLY rest is i put her in my neck under my hair while laying in bed and covered her up with a blanky and she FINALLY went to sleep she kept cuddling closer and closer to me it was so sweet. before that i turned my head and covered her with my hand and softly blew warm air on her with my mouth i think she really liked that also she kept coming closer and closer. she is such a tiny sweet angel and i can only pray she will pull thru all this and recover from all this. she is sad in her e-collar and i see her trying to bend her body down to either lick or bite her wound but she cant quiet reach it. she wants to groom her face i can tell but of course she cant with e-collar. i put benny ontop of her cage on outside last night so they can see each other she did the sweetest bark ever she was happy to see him... him of course typical man just ran all over the cage and tried to crab her with his hand thru the cage. smile once she is a lot better i will move her cage into the glider room right nexto his again but for now i will keep her right nexto my bed so i can observe her thruout the night. thanks for listening

Mandy stop giving yourself a guilt trip. You are doing everything you can for Bubbles. It's always easy to look back and say well i should have or could have, but you do what you know how or are able to at the time and it's not always right or enough but it's what you are doing for her now that counts. I'm sure you have spent a fortune on vet bills and you are giving her everything you can. Continue loving her and careing for her and praying for her and hopefully she will pull through and give you many more years of love to repay you for all your love and work.
Did you talk to your vet about using an ejacket on her? That would allow her to wash her face and eat and drink without problems. I would discuss it with your vet before switching from the ecollar though. The poor baby will probably have to have one or the other on for a very long time to completely heal that awful sore. It just amazed me that such a tiny animal can even survive having that much of their body removed.

thanks for your kind words... yes I am up to about $ 1000 this month already for Bubbles vet visits.... my husband would KILL me if he knew!!!! And my labrador needs surgery next week $1200.... i need to play FLorida lottery lol

ok i want this e-jacket i read online and i think she can use it. my vet is closed. so how do i get one Denises PM box is full so i cant send her a message. Does she have a website? How do i know which size? So as long as she can;t bend over to reach her stump tail or her cloaca then e-jacket will work. Any input if they can bend enough with this jacket to reach these areas?

So i want one overnighted. Can anyone let denise know to contact me since her PM box is full?

Hi Mandy if you dont get hold of her let me know. I have ejackets, she supplies me, But do try to get hold of her first. There is a piece of plastic in the belly of the jacket that keeps the glider from getting at the cloaca or upper part of tail. So sorry you and Bubbles are going through this.

A certain little angel managed to get through to me & make me aware of your situation, Mandy. angel Bless them one and all...they can even penetrate my over PM limit (I don't know how but it doesn't matter).

My cell phone number IS in my profile...please feel free to call me TONIGHT. I can get a couple e-jackets on the way to you Monday morning but need a few measurements for Bubbles' specific situation. With the way this is sounding, you're going to want at least 3: 1 for having on, 1 for being in the wash, and 1 for "stand-by". I'm going to review some of the pictures and put the "committee (in my head)" on alert just in case we need to make some special modifications.

And honey, the LAST thing you need to do right now is play the shoulda/woulda/coulda game...all you're gonna succeed in doing is turning yourself into a sobbing heap of regret. Right now, there's no time for that. hug2 You need to put whatever happened prior to right now behind you...learn from it at a later time...and be as strong as you can be. Bubbles hasn't given up, and you can't give up on her. (lord, that's hard to say....and harder to do, but lean on all of us here to help keep you going.) Focus on the POSITIVE side of things: she's eating, her body functions are coming back, so far you're not talking about anything being infected, and she LOVES YOU (that oughta be enough to put a good dose of starch in your resolve thumb )

Gonna shut up now so this message can get on its way. Hang in there!!!!

Mandy, I'm still standing by for the info I need to make your e-jackets. I have an ADORABLE print that I'm just ITCHING to work up for your little girl...rosy raspberry with little black polka-dots! I also have a "rosebud" print in orange and turquoise that makes a DARLING e-jacket.

But I need to hear from you TODAY what size to make...it takes a "few minutes" to put them together. I have the afternoon & evening free, and want to get them out FIRST THING tomorrow. Call/text/PM/e-mail me soon! worried

Mandy, I just wanted to say that your little one can go on to lead a NORMAL and healthy life, although it will have to be as a single glider.

I have a glider here that has no cloaca at all. She has been like this for years now and has no health issues at all.

So dont feel like you are alone in this, and know the outcome can be a good one!

Here is a picture of my Meadow:

Mandy, I am sorry that you are having to go through with this. I'll be keeping Bubbles in my thoughts and prayers.

Has there been a picture of what Bubbles cloaca looks like?

Personally I feel that a vet is always the first go to and if nothing else if you don't feel comfortable with your vet then maybe you can at least get your vet to consult with another more knowledgeable vet.

I don't know what I would do if I didn't have the rapport that I do with my vet. She has saved me lots of money just by listening and doing a little research herself. No matter what, I am in no way shape or form qualified to make the decisions that she can.

Again, I am hoping and praying nothing but great things for you and Bubbles!

Just wanted to give everyone a courtesy update. My dog was sick I was sick so i havent been online much at all.

Bubbles is recovering well. She is still on her antibiotics twice a day and i am flushing her wound now once a day. It seems to be healing up nicely so has her ambutated tail. She does seem to sleep a lot and is still very skinny frown she is eating and pooping AND PEEING from her cloaeca again YAY that was good news but she is really skinny i can feel her bones frown even so she is eating I wonder if I should force feed her some of the Oxibow Critical care food the vet gave me for the firstfew days when she was in her e-collar. Any suggestions? I havebeen feeding her mealies a lot hoping thatwould "stuff" her up. Any ideas/suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks Other than that Tail has been send in to see if it was cancer in the tail or not. Praying for those results

If she is that skinny, I would be offering her more nutritious foods than just mealies. Those may be filling her up, but not giving her enough to put on weight. I'm not sure what that food stuff is the vet gave you, you should contact the vet and see his/her opinion. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt her though.

Avocado is good to give when trying to put on weight. It can take a long time to get weight back on them. I have a little boy who, a year later, is still not back to his original weight.

Glad to hear the cloaca is working! Things just may heal up fine!

When our Ladies were recovering from their pouch abatement surgery, we added one or two teaspoons of ensure and 1/2 tablespoon of avocado to their diet to bring their weight up, just in case they may need more surgery. They loved it, especially the avocado. This was in addition to their blended mix and fruits and vegetables. So happy to hear your little one is doing so well! She has been in my thoughts since your first post...

Mandy I'm sorry you and your dog are not feeling well, but I've VERY glad your baby is doing a bit better. The ensure works great for putting on some weight. Make sure to get the vanilla and not the other flavors though. I've never had a glider pass on the vanilla ensure. We had a pair we took in as a rescue that were literally nothing more than a piece of skin over bones and I fed the the ensure diet for a few months and they gained weight and got so healthy on it.

I gave my Roo all natural peanut butter to help him gain weight after surgery. I'd give him the oil and the next time. Stir the oil into the peanut butter and give him that. Not only did it help, it was hilarious to watch him eat the peanut butter!
