Does anyone freeze their mealies? I know that freezing them probably kills them but does it turn them all black? When they die in the fridge they turn all black and get almost hollow...is it the same in the freezer? How long do they last for in the freezer?

I freeze my mealies, but I buy the ZooMed Can o' Worms and after I open it, I freeze them. So, I don't know about the live ones. I'm sure others will be along to assist.
If they turn black, be sure to toss them in the garbge, though. That much I do know. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Check with Suz of SuzSugarGliders... I do believe, when I attended her party that she had a huge container of frozen mealies, and they did NOT look black. I was very surprised at that because my pet store accidently froze my delivery, and they were all black by the next day (yes, they refunded my purchase).
If anyone knows a healthy safe way to freeze live mealies, it's our Suz! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I feed mine live, so I couldn't tell ya.

Ew. I never thought of freezing them, but I don't know if I would like them stiff and straight. I always assumed that they would turn black. I guess that I will have to try to freeze some now, just to see. I wonder however how long they would last.

Mine prefer them live so freezing isn't an option for us.
