Hello.

I have two females that are around 2 years old. They have been in the same cage for 1.5 years and have gotten along great (I believe). Lately at night sometimes I hear a weird hissing/crab sound. its short bursts of hissing . Here's a video.

I actually saw one female kinda on the others back like nibbling/licking the others head or back or something.

Any inputs? They wll not hush up.

One or both could be in heat or the one riding the other could be establishing dominance over the other one.

Mine make that hissing crab noise usually when someone has moved in the pouch and they are kind of saying. Get your foot out of my face.

Mine also make that sound in the pouch when one is squirming around and disturbing the other.

Thanks,

Yeah, Kiki and Buster make those noises at each other in the pouch a lot, mostly when fatty buster is squishing Kiki. Jasper will make a longer hissing. Lise when he's looking for me or calling out to the other two.

My little guy makes a noise very similar to this and I've been wondering what it is too. I've only ever heard him do this in the morning after treat time, shortly after he's just snuggled up and went to sleep. I usually go check on him and sometimes will talk to him. Sometimes he peeks his head out of his pouch and others he seems to be asleep.
