What are everyone's favourite cages? I have the Large Sturdy Cage- http://www.sugar-gliders.com/index.php?id_product=11&controller=productI like this cage a lot because it is really big. But its only about 2 years old and its already getting rust in some places. It's non toxic powder coated I think, which I thought prevented rust. I'll be moving to Florida in several years and know it will be super humid there, which would make rust worse. I'm hoping to find a cage that will not rust, and one that is very large. The cage I have now is also very difficult to clean since the doors are small. I'd be willing to connect two cages to achieve larger size if I would need to.

I also have the HQ Large Sturdy, I haven't had it for quite a year as of yet. I purchased it, I believe late March last year after I moved to AZ. Now since I've moved back to MD, so after reading your post am also concerned about rust.
I had the Madagascar cage which is also made by HQ, and I did like that. However, the depth made it harder to reach back corners for cleaning and attaching/removing their furnishings. Also didn't like the metal drop pan, which did start to show a little rust in just about a year. I didn't have it much more than that before I moved and left it behind.
The size doors on the Large Sturdy are big and easy to place things inside, however I do agree not really large enough to reach for good cleaning, it's a bit difficult, but a little better than the Madagascar because it's not as deep back.
I have heard that Critter Nation makes a good cage and you can stack them to make even taller. There are some drawbacks but most of them can be adapted, only for me the horizontal bars is pretty much the biggest issue, for I use a silo for water and really have grown to dislike water bottles to the point I really don't want to have to use them at all. The doors on this baby are the whole front of the cage, so very accessible. I do not know the life expectancy of the cage though, I thought the HQ would not rust in two years either.
There are some who make their own cages. I've seen the traditional homemade that is with pvc and landwire mesh (plastic) and occasionally some that use wood, but that has to be treated specifically to prevent urine absorption. I have also seen on a couple of occasions cages made out of the white pantry shelving, you know the coated wire. I would guess it's safe, as long as your gliders don't chew through the coating I would think. And then there is also the Glide-ariums, those babies will never rust, but Shelly's store is temporarily closed, so you will not get to order one now if you wanted to go that direction.

Terry, the areas I'm seeing rust are on all the screws around the doors. Also there are parts of the cage that have little holes in the metal, like the thicker bars on the cage and stand are hollow, but the glider pee runs into those tiny places. I actually get liquid like rust dripping out of the stand where the wheels connect.

Thanks for the information, I'll keep an eye out on mine. Here is a awesome homemade cage from the pantry shelving, they referred to it as closet shelving, but I think it's the pantry that has the safe bar spacing for sugar gliders. Also, the hardware could rust, but this is nice! shelving cage I would have a problem with the horizontal bars on this as well, I just realized.

I actually have 2 of the cages you posted from suncoast, only I bought mine from exotic nutrition. Lisa's cages don't have shelves,& E.N.does. We are extremey happy w/our cages.

Are the PVC cages pretty good? Looking into building one soon, since I found the tutorial someone else posted on here a few years ago. Easy to clean and such?

PVC cages are probably not as easy to clean as the wire cages like the Congo, Madagascar or Brisbane cages. I have a cage that has a section of the plastic mesh attached over some broken wires on the bottom grate. That area is difficult to get clean because the food really sticks to the plastic mesh and it is hard to scrub because the zipties snag the cleaning rag. If you build the cage with a size that allows it to be taken outside for a good hose down now and then it can be a great cage for you. I personally prefer the look of the wire cages and the easy clean powdered coated wire that makes it very easy to clean. The wire cages also have a fitted cage pan to catch waste and food scraps. With the PVC Cage you need to design a way to clean under the cage easily. I suggest getting something to act as a cage pan first - then build the cage to fit the pan. Martin's cages has great cage pans. Some are 2.5 inches deep and work very well. http://www.martinscages.com/products/supplies/pans.htm
