i want to warn you all about silent spinners sold at most pet stores. These come in different colors. I have called the company and told them that I had a problem with them coming unscrewed and the wheel flying off. Thank God I heard the wheel making a weird sound and I ran to catch the wheel falling off with Savannah inside. It could have hurt her if it fell on her, or if I had it attached to the side of the cage up high. Anyway, I tried out several- even went to a pet store and spun it while I talked to the owner adn it fell off too. I have had others who have had the same problem. So be careful...and if you have had any trouble with these, please let me know so I can add more letters to my request to fix these http://www.critterstore.com/sp-61416.html this is a photo of them.[/code]

I almost bought one of those.

I have this one http://www.critterstore.com/sp-61386.html in my glider's cage currently. I just wanted an inexpensive temporary wheel for my boys to use until I could order a wodent wheel with a nail trimmer. They didn't touch it for quite a while because it's too stiff for them to turn. I had to trim off some of the plastic rod inside in order for it to actually move. now they love it and shove each other out trying to get in to run. But it's not silent at all, and if they go too fast they'll fall out.

Though I personally don't use silent spinners, I have considered them before. Thank you for the warning, I'll remember it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thanx.gif" alt="" />

I have one and have yet to have any problems. I know that it screws on, so I always figured that it could become loose because of them running on it, so I check it often and just make sure it's tight.

I work at PetSmart and when I go to work I will test the ones we have to see what happens. I will let you know and will send a letter to the manu. Plus I will not recommend people buying them if the do this. Thank you for the tip.

I spent the money on the stealth wheels with trim trax and boy do my gliders fly on them. they love them. I have wodent wheels too but to change the trach every few days and they keep the debree inside and it gets squished inside the trimmer. It is a mess to clean which is why we switched over, but I know it is personal choice. I am so glad to see so far nobody has been hurt. I guess it depends on the direction they run in with the silent spinners, I just dont want any glider to get hurt.

I have one as well. I inherited it when I adopted two suggies. The woman I adopted them from did tell me that once in a while it flies off. But she kept a towel propped up in front of the wheel so that it would not land on them if it fell. But anyway, since I have them and the wheel no problems whatsoever. But I make sure to tighten it really well. I've had it for a few months.

I have one of those. The only difference is that mine wasen't $15.00 !!! That site is a rip off. I only payed $6.00 for mine. I have one and Snuffie loves it. I have noticed that sometimes the screw in the middle gets loose but I just tighten it up.

I had one and I hated it. It was not silent, but that wasn't the biggest problem. Mine fell off the base. I could never get it to go on the side of the cage. A couple months ago, I bought a wodent wheel and planned to use the silent spinner in the tent, but since it falls of so easily, I decided not to do that.

BTW, I sent the company an email about the wheel a while back, but never received a reply.

I have one in my travel cage and it's always been perfect.
Silent too. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />

I don't use them for the sugar gliders, but I have for the hedgehogs. I had the same problem, but I put a little glue on the screw, scewed the "nut" back on, let it set a full 24 hours, and gave it back. I haven't had a problem since.

A friend of mine has used plumbers tape to put on the screw part of the wheel, then screws the "nut" to help avoid it from coming loose. I haven't tried it myself, but she says it works great.

Mine have done the same thing, luckily none of my gliders have been hurt, you might try putting a little bit of glue on the tip of the screws treads before screwing on the yellow piece, might make it harder to clean though.

I too have had the same problem but I was sleeping when mine fell apart. Lucky none of my babies got hurt. Now I'm very careful and check it everyday to make sure it is tightly fitted. I mainly use them for my younger gliders that are 8-10 weeks old so this is a major concern for me. My older gliders get to use shealth wheels.

I have a silent spinner and have used it for over a year without one incident. I also have a wodent wheel in one cage and the other morning found it totally apart in their cage. I keep it tied with plastic ties to the floor and the back or it vibrates all over the cage but I had to take it out and put the running pad back in the frames. No idea what happened.

Actually, I tried to take mine out yesterday for a cleaning and could not for the life of me un-screw it. I'm bringing a pair of pliers home tonight.

I have them in some of the cages and have had the same issue. I make sure when we clean to check them and tighten if they are loose. No gliders have been hurt although they look at me funny and seem to say, hey looked what happened.
