I will be adopting a glider on saturday he is older likes to bite hands and is going to need a bit of work . I am not worried about the biting it is the fact that he will be by himself he has currently been living in a divided cage near other gliders but not with them.when I get him he will be alone. Now I want to be clear that once he has become more comfortable with me and more social I fully intend to get him a cage mate but until them what can I do to.make sure he does not get depressed?

Well, first he's gonna be scared, so a couple of sleeping pouches and blankies with your scent on them inside the pouches will give him some comfort. And get to know your smell. A glider safe wheel will give him some exercise, and he will need toys. He will need a couple of days to acclimate to the new smells and his new surroundings. You might want to leave a tv or radio on the first few nights so he doesn't feel all alone. You will need a bonding pouch so that after a couple of days, you can let him sleep on you during the day for a few hours.

Do you have a tent or a baby proof bathroom? Spend as much time with him that you can and give him treats by hand, be preparedto be nipped, don't flinch, otherwise he will bite more if he knows it works. Tweezers for treats or a popcicle stick with honey or yogurt on it may help you get used to him, and him to you.

talk to him softly like you would to a baby, and sing to him ifyou like, anything to get him used to your presence.
