The only bedding I have used is CareFresh Custom Natural paper bedding I have seen a lot of pictures of people using news paper for trays is this toxic at all to gliders? I read somewhere that the ink is dangerous or something about the aroma of it when it gets pee on it is toxic but like I said I have seen a lot of people who apparently do it does anyone on here use newspapers or the ads that come with it to different stores? have you had any health problems with you gliders? It would definitely safe a few dollars for me and seems easier to clean as well.

I've heard that about newspaper as well. I personally used to use it, but then stopped after hearing ink could be toxic. My gliders have been fine, no effect on them, but I switched to fleece, then ended up just using nothing in the drop pan, my now current choice.

Jana's custom liners? She makes awesome products! I don't use anything to line my drop pan, but I have had custom liners for shelves made and she's fabulous! I am hoping to eventually get them for my Glide-arium.

The ink in todays newspapers are safe, they are soy based.
I myself prefer not to have anything in the drop pan, I just wash the pan out a couple times a week.

I have a liner too and I'm thinking bare pan. It would be easier and faster to clean I think than trying to contain roll / fold or sweep any type liner and keep from spilling. I will say it goes against everything I was ever taught when it comes to any pet I ever had... But willing to consider it.

thanks everyone! I use liners also not sure of the name i threw the box away I bought them from petsmart and I think it was in a purple box o.o cause I just used my last one a few days ago when I changed the cages I have 2 cages was hoping to build my own but unfortunately there's not much besides pvc pipe instruction ones I would have loved a wood framed one but can't find a screening I like one big cage would make it so much easier when it comes to cleaning lol My male will occasionally pull the liner if its close enough and there is no bedding ontop of it I use both because every water bottle I get leaks really bad and without the liner and bedding it leaks onto the things the cages are on I thought if I just use newspaper or a liner I can change it easily daily without making such a mess of the bedding and food and business that's in it lol Newspaper seems a lot easier and cheaper I have tonnnns of newspapers and ads lying around but not comfortable using them if people aren't sure if there safe or not Does anyone know if there unsafe if ingested like if they were to eat the paper what if they can not reach the paper would them urinating on it make the ink toxic? Oh! and if I didn't have the leaking issue I would consider a bare tray but the water bottles are horrible! im on my 3rd maybe 4th ones and there all fine the first day then after that its almost completely gone and on the bedding the next morning -_- I have got 4 different brands different sizes and I just can't get a break with them lol I have a plastic bowl under one in my males cage and I have a reptile one under the other one in my females she drinks out of the bowl more than the bottle I wasn't aware that the breeder I got her from didn't use bottles in her facility till probably a week after I brought her home I do change the water and rinse the bowls daily I am planning to keep the food and water at the top of the cage on a shelf when I get a bigger cage

Try using a silo, they don't leak. I switched to those and would hate to go back to water bottles. Silos are easy to use and super easy to clean. This is what I have, in the small size. Clean Water Silo

I use a lixit bottle sold in the bird section at most pet stores. These are a wide mouth bottle that is easy to wash inside with a baby bottle brush. They have a rubber seal in the lid to prevent air from entering the bottle around the top - which is the cause of most water bottle leaks. I have used these bottles for my birds before getting gliders 8 years ago and have never had one leak in almost 12 years. They attach easily to most cages with vertical bars using a bracket attached to the cage. There is a nub on the plastic bottle that slips securely into the bracket.

Candy, that is a nice water bottle, and I can see how the bottle itself is easy to clean, like the silos, with bottle brushes. But how do you ensure the tube the water comes through is cleaned well? That is part of the problem I've had with water bottles, I always found them difficult to ensure they were cleaned properly, both bottle and the nozzles/tubes. Silos just don't fail, they don't leak, and you can thoroughly clean all the components. I often use the silos even for offering nectar portions of diets, which you can't do with a bottle.

Ive had great luck with the glass bottle with the ducky in it. I bought it after a few bad ones believing i was squeezing them to hard and making them leak. Did you try that one yet? Ive heard about but cant find the one Candy mentioned. The silo sounds like a smart choice. Will they work with horizontal bars?

With horizontal bars as well as grid-like bars, the silos can be rigged, but not used with the cage mounting that it comes with, at least the kind I have. I'm not sure any silo will work with the mounting they come with, but I do know they can be rigged. I had a PP starter cage for the vacation cage prior to having three gliders. I was able to stick the bowl portion through a square and use a reusable zip tie to hold it in place. I think it's possible to rig to horizontal bars, but perhaps trickier and maybe not as convenient to use.
