I am bringing home my first sugar gliders next month and I am looking for a safe wheel for them. Do these wheels look safe?

The first one appears to have a slick surface that may be difficult for a glider to use since they typically do not just walk or run on the surface of the wheel. Gliders jump across the wheel, grab the mesh surface to propel the wheel forward then jump across again. Often they will play together with one glider jumping and the other holding the mesh track to go along for the ride then they trade places.

The second one may work but it is hard to tell what type of bearing it has. The stand is also too close to the floor - gliders often like to hang on and ride on the outside - but the stand does not have enough clearance for them to ride on this wheel.

Thanks! I was going to get the cage mount option so that I could just mount it to the side of the cage. Would that work better?

That would help because you could mount it higher than the stand height to allow plenty of room under the wheel for glider antics.

The first wheel is actually made for hedgehogs. The second wheel concerns me a little as I'm seeing a tear tab on the pink wheel. Tear tabs can be dangerous to sugar gliders, they can get their feet stuck in the tabbed area while running on the outside of the wheel.
