Okay so I have a male sugar glider and about 2 weeks after I got him a "red string" was coming out by the butt. At that time me and my dad werent aware of what it was and my dad pulled on It hard. This was almost a year ago but I was wondering if it could interfere with him Having babies?

If you injured him and scar tissue built up, yes it could interfere with him breeding.

Just a FYI, if your glider doesn't have lineage you really shouldn't be breeding him. It is possible to get gliders from totally different people and still have them be too closely related to breed.

Breeding gliders that are closely related can result in defects, rejected joeys, the parents eating the joeys as soon as they drop into pouch and the list goes on.

The "red string" is the glider's penis. If he has been able to urinate normally for a year it has probably healed well. The only way to know if his ability to father joeys was impaired would be to house him with a female and see if it happens.

The big question about his ability to have babies depends more on whether he is an intact male or if he was neutered.

Does he have a 'pom' in the middle of his belly? If not then he has been neutered and will not father joeys. If there is a pom you would need to feel it to see if the testes are present (2 small round beads can be felt in the pom if he is intact.) If the sac is empty then he probably had a pom on neuter.

Does he have a bald spot on his head and a yellow scent gland on his chest. If he does then he is intact and probably could father joeys.
