Okay so here is the deal. Im planning on getting a sugar glider. He is perfect he is everything I want color wise! Except gender, I wanted a female its a male.
I have a female and she is very young swell being about 4 months old. She's doing well on her own but I do want to pair her with another glider. Anyway the male is neutered but I'm scared, are neutered males aggressive? will they still attempt to mate with the female, do they still mark a ton more than females please help me because i really do like him!

When neutered before they begin to mature (about 4 months of age) male gliders do not seem to every become interested in mating. They do not develop the head and chest scent glands or the odor that goes with them in adult intact male gliders.

When neutered before maturity they do not seem to mark the cage any more than the females.

Thank you! Also are they more aggressive than females?

Neutered males are a favorite among sugar glider owners. Some people say they tend to be sweeter than females.

My neutered boys are all pretty laid back.

None of them are aggressive, but the two that came to me as rescues and were fully mature adults before they were neutered do mate with their female cage mate when she is in heat. The mating activity can sound aggressive but they do not fight with each other over her.

He may have no desire at all to mate, seeing as he was neutered young.

Most vets like them to be at least 9 or 10 weeks OOP before they neuter them.

It is best to confer with your vet to see what he or she prefers.

I am confused. Is the breeder arranging to have him neutered before you bring him home? Many breeders can arrange this with their vet when sellng male joeys as pet only.

Neutering before the joey is a minimum of 8 weeks OOP and old enough to be separated from his parents would be unusual - the testes may not have actually dropped into the Pom that young.

My Pickle was neutered right at 8 1/2 weeks old and he's fine. He's a look-out so he can be a protector when he wants to, but all of the boys I've had would protect their mates and that's about it. They are always very sweet to the females. Pickle has been rubbing himself in Chichi's pee spots trying to get all scented up so the instincts are still there, just no scent glands. But don't worry, he'll be sweet, won't hurt your girl and won't stink.
