I made my own detergent a year ago, ingredients were Borax, Arm and Hammer Laundry Booster and a bar of FelsNaptha soap.
I used it for my laundry and the gliders.
I typically wash the glider's stuff with whatever soap I am using for my clothes.

I just use whatever laundry detergent I have available at the time. When I got my first gliders, I was using Arm & Hammer, then I switched to All fragrance free. Now I'm using Purex. I haven't noticed a difference in the fleece or the way my gliders treat their fleece furnishings. I never use fabric softener and always run an extra short wash (2 min), so their laundry gets rinsed three times with just plain water.

I make my own laundry soap too. It works in He washers also. I just add their bedding in with our laundry. I line dry everyhing. Unless it's raining or snowing.

This can be made as a powder or liquid.
The powder form is the easiest to explain. Liquid requires to be cooked.
1c Borax 1c arm and hammer washing soda 1/4 c fels naphtha , ivory soap, or your own personal bar soap chips ( ya know that bar soap you throw away when it's too small I hate waste)
This part can be done several ways but I use an old food processor(grating bar soap) and an old blender.
In order to use the bar soaps, it must be grated first (like grating cheese in a food processor).
Then add 1/2 cup of each borax and arm and hammer to blender. Add grated soap. Flip on to highest setting. If you have room, add rest of borax and arm and hammer. It should be a fine grain/ powder when done. Keep in air tight jar. Use only 1 -2 teaspoons per load. Very concentrated!
Costs pennies on the dollar for laundry detergent.
Hubby driving and I'm doing this on phone so if it doesn't make sense I will rewrite tonight! Lol!

Please note I edited and changed the bar soap portion measurement. I double checked my recipe.
I Got both my recipe from our neighbor, but later found some on pintrest.
These work best in warm or hot water.
To help with static in dryer, I use a wash cloth with white vinegar, and don't dry completely.
most of the time I just hang their stuff back in cage wet (unless it's real thick) in the winter if I get their laundry done in the morning. It will be dry by the time they wake up.
