I ordered Stuart a wheel with the nail trim insert to put in it a couple of times per week. Does this really help with the nails as much as I am told? Stuart had his nails trimmed on Jan 1st by breeder before coming home. How often does it need to be done? I am not wanting to learn while in bonding process as I don't want a setback. Will nail trimmer in wheel keep them ok for awhile? sugiemom to Stuart

There is a new version of the wooden wheel out now without the center post. That being said I know nothing more than that about it. It seems they might have tried to make it safer now.

Not sure exactly what it is called I just know it is the one that was sold by Stuarts breeder, I ordered it from him, he gets them from his own company in Houston once per week. They gave me option to buy when I picked up Stuart but told him I wanted to wait a couple of weeks. He guarentees Glider Safety! I will double check when he gets it for me. I know there are no openings for feet or tail to get snagged because I was concerned about that. I m OCD, you will find I'm paranoid about my research and doing the best for my animals, esp with Stuart since he was something I knew nothing about till Oct 2015. My Mom makes fun of me. Oh well better to be safe than sorry I say. Thank you for always making sure I get and do the right things for him, as I am learning new things daily. I REALLY Appreciate everyone willing to help me. Thanks sugiemom to Stuart

I tried to find a link for the new wheel, but not sure exactly what I was looking for so that didn't work
I just know how much you love Stuart, so would feel awful if I hadn't said something knowing the problems there have been with that particular wheel.

Ok, everyone I looked at the link warning about the wheel. WOW, i'm still crying can't get images out of my mind. I will NOT be buying the wheel from my breeder, even if it may be safe. I WILL order one of these safe wheels you gave a link to. I'm not risking my Stuart to even the SMALL possibility he could be hurt or killed. That was terrible. May I post that wheel warning on my Facebook page for my glider friends, whom I know have the unsafe wheels? They need their eyes opened to the danger. sugiemom to Stuart

You can post anything you want on fb. Just be aware that sometimes folks on fb don't want to listen to anything other than their own opinions which can sometimes be very wrong
You just do whatever you feel is right for Stuart.

The wheel from Exotic nutrition solves the center axle danger issue - but the solid track is still going to hold glider pee and poop inside the wheel making it a frequent source of cage odor. It is hard to tell but the solid surface may also prevent the glider from jumping in the wheel and grabbing the mesh as they land to propel the wheel. It may limit gliders to just running on the surface which is not the way my gliders like to play in their wheels.
