The study is done! The results are in! The results of the 2014 Sugar Glider diet Study will be presented in person by Dr. Ellen Dierenfeld, PhD at the 2016 OSGA in Elyria, Ohio. If you would like to attend to hear the results in person, please go HERE for details. We have just over $1,000 to raise to have this study paid in full. Still accepting donations to finish paying for it.

PAID IN FULL!
With the absolutely amazing pledge of a $1,091.00 donation by Suz Enyedy, the 2014 Sugar Glider Nutrition Study will be PAID IN FULL!!! Thank you so much Suz!
I'm happy to announce that with this pledge, we will be receiving the results of the study at the OSGA in April! I hope that everyone that is interested in hearing the results in person plans to attend.
Thank you so much to everyone that has contributed over the last 2 years, be it a product donation or a monetary one! This has been a long road of fundraising, and I hope you all realize how much I appreciate every dollar that was donated. $10,000.00 is a lot of money to raise, and I couldn't be more proud of this community for coming together to get this done. Thank you so very much! This just goes to prove that we not only can come together for our gliders, but that we all understand how important this research is.
Thank you!!

The 2014 Sugar Glider Nutrition Study has been completed! This truly could not have been done without the extreme generosity of many sugar glider owners. There are not enough "thanks" to show how much this is appreciated by so many. Only the gliders will benefit in the long run. This is so important and so needed. The results were presented in person by Dr. Ellen Dierenfeld, PhD at the 2016 OSGA. We have found that in general, we are doing a better job with respect to diets than we were 10 years ago. Some diets were found to be within reason of what is expected to be nutritionally balanced for gliders (still not determined at this point), but TPG diet was found to be nutritionally imbalanced. The conclusion was that TPG diet is not a recommended diet for sugar gliders as it's currently written. Even when following the instructions to the diet, it is completely nutritionally imbalanced. The products that are listed to be substituted with one another are nutritionally different and are not equal as a substitute. The variety of vegetables and fruit are the same, very imbalanced. The vit/min supplement was developed to be 3x the metabolic rate for a human, which is way off for the needs of a sugar glider. I would like to clarify something (due to comments on FB) - Dr. Dierenfeld did not endorse, support, or discredit ANY diet. The conclusion of TPG diet not being recommend is mine - that "I" do not recommend it based on the results of the study. Additionally, I have never recommended TPG diet solely based on sprinkling vitamins over the food, nor have I recommended any diet that uses the sprinkle method. With the additional information from the research just furthers my personal opinion. Again, I just wanted to clarify that Dr. Dierenfeld did NOT state that this is not a recommended diet "as written", "I" did, and IMO her research backs that up.
