I've had my little Apollo for over a month now. He's about 5 months old now. He is pretty well bonded with me (so long as I don't interrupt his godly sleep in the pouches, then it's a total crabfest! lol)
Apollo seems to have a nasty biting habit.. he is constantly biting my fingers and occasionally my arm and neck (while we are playing).
I've done the tsking sound, and wash my hands, but he's still biting.
What are some other things I can do to get him to stop biting so much? I don't feed him with my fingers, except the occasional mealworm.
I'm at a loss of how to get him to stop.

Also, a bit off topic of my original post, he's lately had issues sleeping in his sleeping pouches. He seems to rather sleep in the hammock which isn't dark like the pouches. But he will sleep in the bonding pouch when I carry him around.. I took him to the vet and everything checked out fine, but still it's worrying that he's not sleeping in a pouch.

He's my only glider currently (I plan on getting him a cagemate soon).

Thanks for any and all help!

Distract him before he bites. You will see him opening his mouth, that is the time to distract him.

As far as the crabbing in the pouch goes, try talking to him before you touch the pouch.

I care more about him not sleeping in his pouch than the crabbing. Lol he only crabs in the pouch when I let sunlight in that wakes him up. And if I "squeeze him" when I get or put things in the car. The second we get home he's fine in the pouch. But the not sleeping in his sleeping pouches thing is killing me.

Distract him like how? Pull my hand away? Or something else? Should I try feeding him more from my finger tips?

I think Michellyboo4292 means that if you see he is going to bite, make a noise like psssst or simply say NO a little sharply but not loud. You just want to distract him from the bite. He needs to learn that it's not okay to bite. So whatever noise you can make that stops him, he will learn to associate that noise with NO BITE!! I say HEY a little sharp but again not loud. My little guy sits back on his haunches and looks at me like "who me?" And I look at him and say NO BITE! Gliders are smart so he'll learn.

With my female I learned to take the bite. She stopped biting me when she figured out that I wasn't going to pull my hand away just because she was biting me. It worked and now I can hold her. Taking the bite is not for everyone tho.

Good Luck!

I wouldn't worry about his sleeping in the hammock rather than the pouch when he is in the cage. There are many gliders who prefer a hammock to a pouch dunno

It may be that when he has a cage mate, they will change to a pouch. Don't be alarmed, though, if they continue sleeping in the hammock. It's simply a choice.

He bit me so hard yesterday he drew blood and he wasn't letting go.

I think he may think the same thing now that he's acclimated to Nyx (our cat), Artemis (our dog), and my 3 kids XD
Because the second you walk in there or there's noise he's climbing up the cage like hello, what's going on out there?
It just makes me worry that sleeping in the hammock is no where as dark as the pouch and that he may not get enough sleep.

I'm just a huge worry wart about all my animals though lol.

He will be fine. Bourbon, the bonding guru of gliders, advocate for a open environment pouch, it basically looks like a dust pan, she says gliders are afraid of what they can't see.

Also, once you get him a buddy, he will learn from the buddy, that may help him get over the biting.

Until he gets over the biting I would give him his treats on a spoon or from a tweezers.
