Hello, I have a really energetic Glider. Seriously. I don't know if she just sleeps 2 hours a day or something but she's been freaking out in the bonding pouch trying to get out and explore a lot more lately. I just want to go about my business in the daytime with the Gliders in the bonding pouch but Sophie won't go to sleep. To keep her from disturbing the others i've even started putting her in her own pouch in the hopes she would calm down but nothing works.

She doesn't crab or anything and me having my hand over her with pressure isn't doing anything. She just keeps trying to get out. If I open up the pouch she'll happily stop moving for a few minutes while just looking around but then its explore time and she wants to go everywhere. Its bright out and everything. Any ideas?

I've had her over a year and she's always been super hyper (the only Glider i've ever seen that managed to climb on a ceiling) but its getting ridiculous.

The best thing many of us did was to read the article written by Bourbon in the bonding forum.
It's the first one on the list. Please read.

I've had this Glider for over a year, shes already bonded and wasn't always a pain in the pouch (pun intended, haha)

Does she get up and run around the cage during the day if you leave her in there?

Is there light in the room the cage is in. If they are constantly in a dark room they can get their cycles mixed up.

Sometimes a change in behavior is a sign of something else and a veterinary visit may be in order to rule out health problems.

No, she doesn't get up and run around in the cage during the day and lighting in the room is the normal daylight. At night I only have a small nightlight in the room plus the light from street lamps coming through the window.

She's not showing any abnormal behavior except getting exploratory urges. Who knows, maybe shes just happy to be on me, haha.

Also, she may not be feeling comfortable being carried around. It's possible that at some point something spooked her, whether you realize it or not. I would not force her to be carried, if she is constantly up, I would put her back in the cage and allow her to sleep during the day. What you are describing is signs of a glider either not feeling well, or a glider that is stressed out. Neither are good as a stressful glider has a lowered immune system which in turn, can allow the glider to become ill.

A vet check with a fecal float/smear should be considered and allow her to sleep in the cage during the day.

Some gliders just are not meant to be or want to be contained in a bonding pouch.

Thanks everybody. We did just move to a new place so she might just be having trouble adjusting. That seems like a possible stressor causing this. I'll see if she calms down over the next week or so and if not, vet time it will be.
