One of my gliders has been dealing with some issues lately. I recently had a glider pass away (Flash) who had an infection as well, my previous vet wasn't very concern with his weight, I was though so I tried feeding him foods to plump him up but he just wasn't eating much and became very skinny towards the end. Since I am concerned that his weight had a factor in him not getting well and passing I am trying very hard to get my current glider's (Baby Face Nelson) weight up. My new vet is very concerned with Baby Face's weight, and says she wants his weight up before any procedures can be done. Baby Face is currently fighting a dental abscess and may have a broken tooth, so he is not able to chew. All he will consume are liquids, I am trying to be creative with this but I am running out of ideas. I need some help with more ideas as to what I can mix up and give to him.

I am not sure on the liquid, but maybe try avocado as well, fresh it will be soft, but not liquid.

I posted in the other thread asking what you normally feed as the staple diet.

I did try to feed him an avocado last night that was very mushy but he licked it a couple of times and then walked away. Tonight I am going to try a different approach and puree it into the liquid I have been giving him. I hope he eats it! :/

What diet do you normally feed? It's possible we can figure out how to give it so it is easier to eat. He needs something that is balanced.

Before everything happened, he and everyone in the colony was being feed the glider complete and the insect-eater diet from exotic nutrition, along with pureed fruits and veggies, their meals also included meal worms, something oatmeal, or even a little bit of almond milk. Since everything has happened (it began about 11/10/16) I had to change his diet to baby foods, meal worms, and my own pureed fruits and veggies, I stop everything hard or chewy for the sick ones. I was feeding him meal worms with everything else but he recently stop eating those (I'm assuming because it was hurting him to chew). After visiting the vet last she gave me a powder to help him gain weight, that is formulated for sick omnivores. He stopped eating the insect-eater diet as well as the pureed fruits and veggies or would only eat a tiny bit before giving up and walking away. I mixed the new powder with water to dissolve it but he wouldn't touch it so then I began to add a little bit of vitamin water and honey, which he was drinking but started to drink less and less every time. I also had to start adding more water to the mixture because it didn't seem as though he was drinking nearly the amount of water as he was a week ago. Hope this helps.

I understand your vet wanting his weight up before putting him under anesthesia, however, if he won't eat that isn't going to happen.

My guess is this tooth is hurting him, so anything coming in contact with it, regardless of the consistency, hurts.

I'm not sure what the solution is for him.
