I'm looking for disinfecting wipes that are safe for animals. I'm not 100% positive on the ones at Whole Foods. I wish to use them on the bars / grate of the cage. Planning on going over it after with water to remove any cleanser residue. Any idea where I can buy these? Do they exist?

I am not aware of any personally.

I get the double-sided sponges from, I believe the Dollar Tree. They have a soft foam on one side and a mild scrubbie on the other and come in packs of two (I'm pretty sure).

I then use a spay bottle I mix my v/w solution in and just spray on the sponge and wipe. I usually just use paper towels on the drop pan, one dry to gather up the goop and onto a small dust pan, than spray the pan with the v/w from the bottle and wipe with another clean paper towel, I do the drop pan daily, the rest of the cage I wipe down weekly, but do a spot clean when/where needed.

I used to use alcohol. Spray it on and wipe if off with paper towel.

I wouldn't use baby wipes or any other antiseptic wipes because of the chemicals.

We use alcohol at work a lot because once it is dry it is done working. Working with pig semen, chemicals that remain on the equipment use would kill it, so we use a lot of alcohol.

You can diy them. That way you know for sure what's in it.

Using vinegar, like Terry does or even alcohol like Feather does.

It's cheaper and you can make them as environmentally friendly as you like.

When using vinegar, there is no need to rinse.

I went on Pintrest to look at the basic "how to" on cutting a roll of paper towels in half, what type of air tight containers people were using... Lots of great ideas on re purposing like large wipe containers, coffee cans, baby wipes containers...

Paper towels need to be the good strong ones, not cheapies, they will fall apart. Or you can buy the dozen washcloth packs (or sew your own out old towels- better yet, cut up old tshirts.) at the dollar general or walmart. They are thin, and fold nicely in any container.

But basically, you're making about 3/4 cup of mixture to pour over a half roll of paper towels.

Vinegar can be 50/ 50 mixed with water, or 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water. About 3 drops of Dawn dish soap, stir, pour comepletely over towel roll. Once saturated, remove the center tube. It comes out fairly easy.

I don't make wipes anymore, I use warm water on a cloth (I bought a huge bag of painters rags at lowes, wash when not too gross) or clean rags to loosen the hard stuff, and in a sprayer 50/ 50 vinegar to water with a few drops of Dawn dish soap,
