Last night we went to bed about 11pm. As I was laying there, counting backwards, I hear and feel a slight scratch under my pillow...

A little later, something causes me to jump out of bed. I hear the scratching... I look up at the shower skylight and see it's still dark. I hear the comforting rythim of one of the girls jumping in their wheel. All is quiet. Hubby isn't in bed. Then I. Hear the scratching again...

Somehow I grab the head of the heavy mattress and lift it up with super human strength. It's dark, so I feel around with my other hand to find the scratching noise only to touch an extra soft furry thing with an extra long furry tail that climbs up my arm to perch on my shoulder and look down at what I was looking for... I feel a bit dumb... it was only a dream... But wait... I realize as I drop the mattress, Fiona is on my shoulder.

How did you get out of the cage? The wheel in the cage is still moving, something jumping on it. It must be Dot. I check all the cage doors and they are closed and locked. So I open the door and Fiona hops down my arm and inside. I lock the door and went downstairs to check the time. It's 5:30am. So I make coffee. As I sit at the kitchen table, I see movement on the stairs to the bedroom... it's Fiona sitting on her hind legs looking at me. So I scoop her up and decide we are gonna spend the day together.

I went to check on Dot and something was terribly wrong with her. She was all swollen, her ears had changed from big and bat like to bigger rounded ears. And her fur was a steel grey solid. Her nose changed too. Long whiskers... her beautiful long tail gone...She seemed to grow and morph before my eyes.

All the sudden their cage started shrinking and Dot's new plumpness started to squeeze between the bars. I opened the door just in time for her to get out and jump on the now very rumpled bed.

I decided they both were very over due for a vet check and I would make an appointment as soon as they opened the same day...

Something was very wrong... The cage is too small, I needed a new one. As I sip coffee...

The vet appointment was in the afternoon so I decide to put the girls in their travel Glide -a- rium and go shopping at Bass Pro Shop with my Mother in law. ( It's just down the road from the vet.)

We are upstairs, I'm waiting as Mom in law tries on some clothes, the girls safely in their travel cage hanging on my shoulder. I'm standing at the wood railing looking out over the downstairs crowd when I hear zzzp. ZZZPPP... I look down and Fiona was squeezing her happy self out through the zipper opening, and she was growing! I went to grab her just as she climbed to the wood railing, and she dug in with all fours and wouldn't let go... I panicked! I would never find her again in the vast store with many replicated ecosystems and stuffed dead animals!!! No! No! No!...

Just then, I sat up in bed, trying to figure out where I was. Hubby asleep next to me. The familiar soft jump, jump, jump of one of the girls on their wheel...

So here's my analogy of my dream:

#1 A few months ago, I was concerned the girls cage was too small. I was told I should un clutter it. I did.

#2 I am in the middle of a project for someone who has a dark silver pet chinchilla (I have never seen or touched one just seen pics). Hence Dot growing round ears and strange nose.

#3 Scratching noise. When I first heard it I was thinking mouse (I won't name who made me think of that but you know who you are. )

#4 Since we left for Ohio in a rush I was not able to get the girls in for their annual checkup. It's weighed on my mind because I think Dot may be overweight.

#5 The Bass Pro Shop in my dreams is in Springfield,MO and is really down the street from my vet's office. But I am in Ohio, my Mother in law is in her own bed just down the driveway from where our RV is parked...And I am sitting in it now on my 3rd (I think) cup of coffee...

Go figure!!!

Any other thoughts?

Since the girls kept coming to you & you decided to spend the day with the one, do you feel you're spending enough time with them? Is the project taking more time each day than you'd prefer?

Well Hutch, you are probably more correct than not.

Since we have been working overnights, the girls have been waking up earlier to play, and when we get home, will wake up briefly when I check on them when we get home. They just peek out for a treat and a head scratch, but I think they miss us.

With the colder weather we have been having here, I worry about them in the RV alone. I wish I could take them with us sometimes.

As far as the project, I have been a bit stumped over it, and I had hoped I would have it completed by now. My Mom in law has given me some great advise, and today we are working on it together...

We are back to days this week and the transition for sleeping has been hit and miss.

Ok, it is starting to all make sense...

I hope the story made sense and was a bit entertaining...

Now I know how Alice felt...

It was bound to happen. As the saying goes, a room full of monkeys will eventually end up typing Shakespear. :nanana:

Aww...that sounds like a bad dream. :-( Losing a glider in the Bass Pro Shop would be a death sentence.
Sorry I put mice in your head. ;-)

That's OK Comrade, it wouldn't take much. Hubby finally confessed he did scratch under my pillow.

I just need a full 8 hour sleep at one time. Haven't been able to do that for the last 3 weeks. It makes me unproductive and cranky.

Dawn, your dream story is entertaining, I loved reading it :pop: . Kinda sounds like something my silly brain would create.

I've dreamed of escaping gliders, it's kinda a slight fear of mine ever since one actually did. Luckily in real life escaping has only happened once. Of course it was during the night and while I was sleeping that Smores decided to leave home for a midnight snack. I woke up to her cage neighbor, Buttercup, barking. I got up to say hi and I gave her a treat, but she just wouldn't stop barking. Took me a few seconds to realize... low and behold I left a small cage door wide open shakehead and my litte princesscup was snitching!! Smores was out and scurring about under the cages eating something green  (dried pea I think). Meanwhile her mate Falcore was just moseying about, without a care in the world and no desire to leave. :owell:

Now I triple check the doors at night.
