Hey guys I'm in need of some advice. I had a breeding pair who are only a little over a year old. They had one set of twins (who are going to new home today) and I just found their mom dead last night. I have no idea what happened, she appeared fine two days ago. She was my old glider who wouldn't let me live on her, but I always made sure to watch her and her pouch to make sure all was well. It truly broke my heart when I found her. The question is now what do I do with her mate? He's so young still. I know rehoming him would cause more stress, but if I got another mate for him in a few weeks would he ever breed again? I've breed gliders for a long time and have never had this happen. I Love to raise gliders and would like to continue to do so, but my question is should I do so with him? I plan to still keep him close in a bonding pouch these next few days and shower him with treats while I try to figure out the best next step for him.

You say he's young, however, you didn't give his age.

There really isn't any reason he shouldn't be able to bond with another female or even two females after you feel he is over the loss of his mate.

It might even be better to pair him with two females that are already bonded to each other and are of breeding age. That way should something happen to one of them down the road, he will not be left alone again.

We have a member with a trio raising a set of joeys now and doing a wonderful job. Read her latest update here.
