I just got Squibble over the weekend and it's totally obvious he needs a friend. I'm open to adopting an older glider for him to play with rather than taking in another joey if it's doable.

Today I found one locally who seems to be well-loved and cared for. She's not even a year old. Assuming she's already bonded and tame, will this be a good choice for our 2nd glider?
At what age can Squibble be neutered to avoid breeding?

I think those are my 2 main concerns.
Thanks,

Aric

Yes, that is a good choice for a buddy for your glider. I have had joeys neutered as young as 10 weeks.

It all depends on what your vet is comfortable with.

Unfortunately the woman never got back in touch with me and apparently gave her to someone else frown

What about another male? Will 2 unneutered males get along OK if no female is around?

Eventually, if they are both joeys starting out, they are going to fight for the alpha position. If they are both adults when introduced, then the one you have now, is going to fight to keep the alpha position.

Not a good situation. Both should be neutered before introductions.

OK that is good information, thank you so much!

I'm still working to adopt a local glider who needs rehoming before buying another joey for our 2nd glider.

I have found an 8 month old neutered male. So my little guy is only what... 11 weeks old? And unneutered still.

What is the view on these 2 being cage mates? Is it a "well, try it and see, you might need to get him neutered or might not" situation?

If you are not planning on breeding I recommend neutering your little guy. He will be much happier without all that testosterone.

Thanks Kimberly. That confirms what I've been hearing. I'm going to get it done next week I think.

Bear with me friends, I'm all over the place with my ideas. So I got a 2nd joey on reserve from a local breeder. After speaking with her I got a fairly high degree of confidence. He'll be neutered and about 11 weeks old when I get him.

I'm thinking of replacing my Reptibreeze cage with something like this:
https://petocart.com/index.php?route=pro...W6wMaAgZv8P8HAQ

I can find larger cages but the construction is wire and flimsy. This one looks solid (actual framed construction) but is maybe not *quite* as big as I'd like. Do you think I could put 2-3 gliders in this cage?
