I was just trimming Pi's nails and on the last foot I got to he crabbed at me and he never crabbs at me! I looked closer and his nail is coming off. The inside part that's supposed to be IN the nail was there, kinda wet and shiny. I didn't see any blood but I think he probably licked it off. I drew a picture because there's no way I'm getting a good photo of it.

The vet isn't open until monday and there's nowhere else for me to take him. Should I leave it be? Should I put some styptic powder on it? Neosporin?

Leave it alone. He may remove it himself. If not, take him to the vet as soon as you possibly can, preferably first thing Monday.

Check his enclosure to make sure there is nothing he may have snagged it on including the pouch.

Hope all goes well.

Yes, or he will continue to get is caught on things. It is best to remove it.

Thank you for the advice! I can't find anything he caught his nail on but even fleece sometimes catches a little bit regardless. I'll be calling the vet tomorrow, as Pi didn't take the nail off on his own. It looks to be scabbing over now, but not infected at all (helps he's currently on antibiotics for unrelated issues).

We did nail trimming and one of our gliders didn't have their nails cut for awhile, we must of missed her the last time. So we started trimming and noticed one nail on jasmine's front hand is missing. the tip of her finger is slightly dark but I see no blood and touching the hand doesn't seem to bother jasmine, she let us cut the other 4 nails no problem. so will the nail grow back?

It depends on how damaged the quick is. Some do and some don't.

You can also help your gliders keep their nails naturally shortened by keeping some sort of branch or brances in their enclosure. Apple seems to be their favorite as they can use it for their nails and also strip the bark at the same time.

Most any hardwood will work.
