My little guy is 10 months old now and just in the past week or two has been covered in pee along the bottom of his tail and the top of his back where his tail is. Some days it's there and some days it isn't. It's so bad that I have to give him a bath almost every other day because he is wet with pee.

I had him to the vet this past Saturday and the vet said it was normal for unneutered males to do this like over scent marking. He said because of his age it was prime time for him. The vet recommended I get him neutered to stop the problem. I worry that it won't help and I am petrified of him going through surgery. I know it's done all the time I just worry so much. I don't know if that would fix him. I don't want to put him through that if it won't do any good. I don't know maybe there is some other reason he is peeing on himself so badly.

If anyone has any input that would be great. He means the world to me and I just want whats best for him and for him to be ok. Thanks everyone.

Hi! and :welcome2: from GC!

I am no help, but wanted to extend greetings to you. I have 2 girls and I'm not sure.

Someone who has experienced this will be on here soon.

I will recommend a Lazer neuter, which has less healing time, and no shaving, stitches, or glue is needed. Having Lazer neuter will prevent excessive grooming in that area.

There is always risk with any surgery, but keep in mind it will be better for him in the long run. It also helps cut down on their smell.

Thank you much for the welcome. 😊 I have heard a little about the lazer surgery thank you. That sounds like the best option for the surgery if I have to go that route. I was hoping he could father a couple joeys for his family before I got him neutered.

Which vet did you go to? I would have had him checked for a urinary tract infection.

If it isn't an infection, then neutering should help.

Thank you Feathers. I took him to see Doctor Todd Gray at Arboretum View Animal Hospital. It's one of the best vets around.

They had originally asked me to get a pee sample but I wasn't able to. Baymax would pee on me instead of on the container. I would try to get it in the container but he would stop every time I tryed lol. He knew something was up. The vet said it wasn't nessesry once he saw Baymax. He was confident because of his age and the way he was akting that it was just ragging hormones. He checked him all out physically and stuff and said he was fine otherwise and couldn't find any other thing it could be.

I thought it was strange but he was very confident so I guess I just trusted he knew what he was doing. So last night Baymax peed all over himself again and it was so bad. I had to give him another bath. It was awful.

I have pictures but I don't know how to put them on here.

You may want to set up a potty dish if your vet doesn't have a set up for this. It could also be used on a scale if you ever have to keep track of their weight. Have a lid with holes. Wake up in afternoon and put glider in bowl. Watch to get potty before the poo gets in it.

My vet recommends afternoon appointment, and give gliders an apple slice in their pouch just before I leave house for appointment. She weighs them in a bowl with a lid and my gliders usually have a nervous potty while in there.

Since gliders hide illness well, it doesn't hurt to have urine tested.

I made a 'shy bladder case' for Gwynevere. She -refuses- to go when I need a sample in an impressively stubborn way, so now I just leave her in there until she goes. I can collect a clean urine sample off the bttom & stool samples off the screen.

It is a small-ish, lidded container with holes in the top & screen-door mesh about an inch off the bottom. She has about enough room to turn around & lift her tail, but not much more.

Niether of us like it, but without it I end up wearing the samples instead.

The epic saga begins here!
