As the topic says ;

www.zooplus.com/shop/birds/bird_cages_and_accessories/parakeet_cages/601119

My worry is that the wood will absorb the urine and make it ugly and smelly. What do you think? Pro and cons

Thanks

The wood will definitely absorb urine and odors.

Since you are in Norway, can you find something similar to this?

https://www.amazon.com/Large-Sturdy-Sugar-Glider-Cage/dp/B014X3V59O

It has large doors for toy removal and a powder coat finish. It's easier to clean too.

Dawn is correct that cage will be hard to clean and it will hold the urine smell.

Hello and thanks for your replies smile

I'm from Norway but I currently live in Croatia, and that webpage have free shipping to Croatia.

I looked at your link, and thought maybe this is something similar that might work?

http://m.zooplus.com/shop/birds/bird_cages_and_accessories/parakeet_cages/607419

Forgot to mention, it's supposed to be the home for two female gliders.

The biggest con is maybe the small doors?

That first cage is for sure beautiful! Too bad it's made with wood.

Are there any other websites that ship free to Croatia?

I'm not sure of shipping costs, but this looks like a very suitable cage. I hope link works.

Yeah, its very beautiful.

I checked your link, and it's 400$ shipping to my location. frown

http://m.zooplus.com/shop/rodents/cages/ferret_cage/385974

This could work, but I fear the spacing is to big? Maybe I could modify it with some mesh. Also, it's super cheap! Only 70 euros with free shipping.

The bar spacing is too large unfortunately. frown

It looks like your first choice is the best choice.:)

It will need a few coats of a clear coat finish added to protect it. It has the biggest door opening of all the others on the website, and the bar spacing is correct.

The drop tray on the bottom should be cleaned daily to keep the gliders from foraging through their pee and poo droppings. The cages Terry and I showed for examples have a grate between the gliders and tray. I couldn't find one with this at the website. The grate also prevents escapes when removed.

Are there other websites near you that may offer a low shipping fee?

Not sure if I dare to mess with clear coating and such, but I will look into it.

I found this tough:

ebay

Shipping is 50 bucks, which I can do.

But the bar spacing is 0,6 inch, and I don't know if that's to much?

About other websites I've googled as much as I can. I think ebay is the best option.

That cage would work it is similar to this cage would work, it is very similar to the Madagascar cage.

I have a Madagascar cage and the bar spacing is fine.

I agree, the eBay cage looks like best and safest option. I believe the bar spacing should be okay, most likely .5 or close to it, i know they state .06, but I believe I've seen pics of this cage used for sugar gliders or ones a lot like it.

Be sure to zip tie the feeder doors and floor grate to prevent escapes. I like reuseable zip ties.

I agree with Terry. That is a nice cage!

It also has a grate above the drop pan.

Please keep us posted, and when you get your babies, we love pics!
