Hi there, I made this account because I lost my glider somewhere in the house last night. I have two gliders that are bonded named Saoirse and Alaia. A few times a week I let them run around the living room while I get ready for bed. Last night was normal and I was in the bathroom and came our after about 15mins and only Saoirse was hopping around. This isn't too weird because they are super curious and are always getting into things and I usually know where to look. However last night was the first time I could not figure out where Alaia had gone whatsoever. All the doors and windows to the outside were shut besides the bathroom window, but I would have noticed had she somehow even reached it since I was in there the entire time. I sjut the toilet lid and I checked in the chair/couches, my roommates room who is out of town, under the fridge, and the upstairs where I live. I now see that I should have shut more doors because there is so many places she could get in to, but they don't usually stay in one spot for long since they had just woken up. I ended up putting Saoirse away so I wouldn't lose her as well and I had to be up in 5 hours for work. I left food and water out near the cage figuring Alaia would eat that and hopefully go to bed in a pouch I left out. To my dismay this morning when I got up the food was untouched upset and there is still no sign of her. She hadn't eaten or drank much before I let them out as far as I saw and now I feel absolutely terrible because though she's probably sleeping, she is also probably hungry and dehydrated... my only thought is that she has to be somewhere she couldn't get out of to not have eaten the food. Honestly til she hopefully wakes up tonight I probably won't find her, but does anyone have any other suggestions on where to look? I went home on my lunch and poked around since she usually crabs when awoken, but I couldn't find her and my poor little Saoirse who isn't usually up at this hour kept poking her head out of her pouch. It was breaking my heart knowing she is looking for Alaia. They are both a little over a year old and have been bonded since a year ago and haven't spent a day apart since... I am praying Alaia turns up tonight.

Make sure all toilet lids are kept closed, check laundry and trash receptacles before emptying or taking out of the house. Check your clothes, shoes, anywhere where you could possibly thing he could hide up.

And, use the flash light to watch where you are stepping.

Please keep us posted with updates. Saying a prayer you find your glider and have power restored soon.

Make sure that all water is drained or covered, close the toilets. Don't take out the garbage. Careful sitting on furniture. Check coat pockets, clothes hampers.

Unfortunately, you cannot rule out that bathroom window especially if you had your back to it at any time. It would be very easy for a glider to silently sneak out that window behind your back without your ever knowing or seeing it.

Welcome to Glider Central!

If your house is warm, look in your closets, in your shoes and boots.

This evening turn lights down, find the noisiest plastic bag you have a candy sack works great, rumpled up and un- rumple. They will crab at that noise. Also your other glider needs to bark, so best to keep lights off and listen for noises.

Please keep us posted and hope your baby comes out of hiding.

Sadly I stayed up til past 2 last night and heard nothing, no scuffling at all. I cried this morning because I fear she might have died already because all 3 plates of food were untouched once again. She loves eggs and I put them out and if she could have gotten to them she would have gobbled them up. I let Saoirse out and she only did her usual running around and didn't bark that I heard (not sure if she doesn't miss her or what her deal is). I just got back from my lunch at home and Saoirse was sticking her head out of her pouch once again looking around so I spent some time with her. I also checked the basement again, including the washer, and tried looking outside around the sides of the house and also the garage, but no luck. At this point I'm hoping that she isn't stuck somewhere suffering, but I would think I would have heard her last night moving around if she was stuck. I have a friend who has a glider of her own coming over tonight to try and help look.

Do you have a cat or dog? Any place your glider could grab a snack? Think back to that night. Have you opened/closed any cabinets? Plumbing holes around pipes?

Do you have Pocket doors?

I'm asking because he could have gotten trapped between walls.

No other pets luckily. The kitchen is attached to the living room, but all cupboards were closed and there are filters on the sink. The upstairs has a half wall attic type thing that I can fit through, I shined my light around and she should have been able to make it out and eat the food I left out, but I might explore it further tonight. I haven't heard her making any noises if she is in there somewhere. *sigh* poor thing frown

Sorry it was a busy weekend! I found her early Saturday morning! I had all but given up hope since it had been two days and she hadn't touched her food or water, I was preparing myself for the worst and went to bed after 3 AM crying because I thought she must already be dead. I decided to sleep on the couch for two reasons. 1- On the very slim chance she was alive I might hear her somehow (at this point my best idea was that she was in the walls of the house) and 2- To hear if Saoirse would bark and call to her cagemate so I could see if she was lonely and comfort her (and she did bark once or twice but not much). When my alarm went off I was ready to move to my bed since my neck hurt and as I grabbed my stuff to head upstairs to bed I heard a noise in the kitchen study. I approached it in the dark with my pillow and blanket in hand and saw movement. I looked at Alaia and all I could say was, "Oh my goodness you're alive!" again and again, I was so extremely surprised and overjoyed. It is beyond me where she could have been this whole time,I had checked everywhere I could think of. Maybe it's because we left something open and she was able to find her way back, I wish I knew, but I am just happy to have her back and safe 💟 thank you to everyone who kept us in your thoughts and prayers. It really paid off when I thought it wouldn't and I appreciate it so much!
