I have my 2 gliders, purchased in February. I try to have them in the pouch at least 3x a week. Unfortunately, I have been dealing with medical issues, and have been having to go to the hospital constantly. They don’t crab at all anymore. They recognize me when I go into the room where the cage is. They jump over to the door, and look for a treat. I usually take the sleeping pouch and open it, at the carrying pouch, and they get right in. I haven’t had much time to let them loose to bond with them loose. I am going to visit my daughter, and am bringing them with me. I’m hoping that they will be happy and hang out with me. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Keep doing what your doing. Just because your not playing with them in the bathroom or tent doesn't mean your not bonding.

Mine love their time in the bonding pouch against my heart.

I agree with Kimberly, though I don't get to spend much pouch time with my trio. I have found though, anytime is better than no time. Keep up with what you can do.

As for taking your gliders with you on your visit, they should be fine traveling. I suggest letting them have sleep-over at least once in their overnight-travel accommodations in their usual room at home, then at least one other in another room or location in your house. Also, use-used bedding that still has their scent marking on it, not fresh clean stuff. If you find you have a place safe for out of cage play where you stay, then make the most of it, if not, continue with your pouch time visits while away, again, using their scented bonding pouch or fleece blankies inside it.

I have had my gliders since July. I have held them in the pouch as well as tent time; nothing I am doing is working.

They know me, come to the cage, use me as a tree but when I try to hold them it is a battle. They always are trying to escape. Athena will usually calm down and fall asleep but not the others.

I am so frustrated. Don't give up.

Most gliders do not like or even tolerate being held in hand. Some, that were maybe raised that way will, but it's rare, and then it would most likely be during daytime sleeping time. Even mine won't tolerate being held closed handed. On nail trim day, I work with each one individually for short periods letting them free-sit in my hand while I hand feed them their mealie with my other hand, and that doesn't last for long.

Don't be discouraged by their normal behaviors, gliders will bond to whatever degree they're capable of, which depends on many factors. This usually is not contributed to yourself, unless you're not putting in any effort, which is obviously not the case, so please don't take it personally or expect more from your glider than it can offer you. Also, besides varying degrees of trust, there is also the speed at which a glider learns it, this also varies upon various factors, just as the degree does.

Enjoy your glider, and they will enjoy you to their capacity, love them, and they will love you to their capacity, don't expect too much of them, you may get more or less than you expect, just accept whatever.

I have a neutered male and a female. I finally figured out who’s who!! I can clearly see her pouch when she’s against the cage. She seems more relaxed than the boy. Also, I have noticed that he attacks her sometimes, and he just continues to go after her. They don’t like to be apart, but sometimes he’s really mean to her. He chirps and jumps on her. She just holds really still and stiff until he stops. I feel so bad for her when he’s doing it. Any opinions? Thank you again! April

Also forgot to add that I’m going to use the original cage I purchased with them for traveling. I have a small cage I made for them for my car, so I can let them out safely to go potty. Then hopefully they will get back into the carrying pouch. I’m trying to think of everything. I’m thinking that I can have them with me throughout the day, but I needed someplace safe that I can put them to potty. I’m pretty excited about this! No doctors and no husband to worry about!! Me, my daughter and my suggies for the weekend!!

When he jumps on her he is probably just marking her as his.

If she was getting hurt she would be making noise and trying to get away.

Thank you! I was worried for her, she was trying to get away, but he was following her and jumping on her! She was pssting at him. But it didn’t look like he actually hurt her. It didn’t look very nice though.

Thank you again, April
