So, Tem and Suki are on their 5th night home. Both girls are around 3 years old. Both seem happy in the tent, and spend time crawling on and smelling my daughter and I.
Tem is a biter. She played happily for about a half an hour, then climbed on my daughters head and bit her scalp, and ear. My daughter jumped at the ear bite, and Tem left her for a few mins, then went right back to her head and ears. Ended up needing a to put a hat on her.
I get the finger biting.... but am a bit bewildered by the head and ear game that Miss Tem is playing.

Hi, I am new to this forum and have only had gliders for a little over a year. My current pair are not nippers. However, what I have read and watched on youtube suggests that this is not uncommon. If it was not hard-the bite, it might have just been cleaning. Anyway, it is my understanding this is faily common and as long as they don't get much of a reaction, they will be less likely to repeat.
I am sure others will have more thorough answers but hope this helps!

The bites are definitely hard. She has nipped me, and she has bitten. With my daughter, it is definitely bites. She has nipped and bit me. Mostly fingers, and I’m taking it as looking for food / snacks. Was considering reducing treats because I feel like she associates fingers with food. But the head and ears, seems like an assertion of dominance. Which is interesting. Pecking order, Suki is definitely Alpha right now. She takes food from Tem, and is generally just the boss. Tem is nippy and biting to my daughter more than me. She tried it once, and I covered my ears without really reacting, and she stopped.

Well, in my early experience, I had to change shampoos. Something less sweet smelling. They do get fixated... They could be grooming or tasting.

This is a time for correction when it starts to hurt. But first, you have to learn the glider language.Lets call it glidish (pronounced "glide - ish". New word think of "English" and say glidish).

So, gliders love to groom each other. Sometimes it gets a little rough and hurts so they communicate with each other by making little sounds that mean, "stop, I don't like what your doing, get your but off my face". The best way we have to interpret the little noises and try to mimic them is by saying one of the following: "Ssst, Tsss, Tsst, Ssssk, ssshhh".

The following is not so important, but wanted to share, so you can skip this paragraph:
"I have also learned to pronounce another word correctly they use now. It's not a word, but a specific sound we make when we do something like stub our toe. Just before colorful metaphors follow. It's a quick air intake with teeth shut kinda of like a hiss in reverse. If you don't get it, find a chair leg, and give it a good kick with your bare foot, and try to suffer in pain with silence. You will suck air in through your teeth... just a reflex to us, but it got my gliders attention..."

When they bite or groom you and it hurts, try the above noises immediately after they bite (their attention span is short). Then move their nose. If they continue, make the ise louder, followed by a firm "No"! If they still continue, remove them with a piece of fleece(at least a 12x12" piece), and put them in their pouch for time out. No treats...

Some have tried giving them a small toy to bite instead of skin. It never worked for mine.

I agree with Dawn on this, you may have to change your shampoo.

Plus some gliders fancy themselves as hair dressers and get carried away with long hair.
