NO NO NO NO NO sry no do NOT, I repeat DO NOT!! feed your sugar gliders distilled water. Distilled water is far more put then boiled water. Boiled water only kills bacteria. To distil water you must collect the evaporation from the boiling process and place that into a clean container. Distillation leaves behind all chemicals that may have been added to tap water which is great. However, the process of distillation also removes all natural minerals found in water. One of the biggest issues with drinking distilled water for a long period of time is that natural water has a very specific types of ions of certain minerals which cannot be found in other foods.
Therefore lack of those ions in the body:
-increases diuresis, body water volume, and serum sodium concentrations -decreases serum potassium concentration -increases the elimination of sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium and magnesium ions from the body
Not only are these things dangerous to humans (since we also have a specific cal:ph ratio) if it can throw off our ratio, which is nowhere near as sensitive as a glider's, I would be very terrified as the how quickly it can through of a sugar glider's
If drinking distilled water for long periods of time, there are products you can purchase to fortify that water, but they are expensive and not designed for a glider's ratio.

I used to be really crazy about bottled water for myself and my pets, because I grew up in an area that had crappy water. But since the water here is really pure, I just do tap for all of us now. Seems to work well. You can download EPA reports online if you're really concerned and see how your city scores on water purity.

we only drink bottled water here. smart or fiji water. in michigan here, lead is a big problem in the flint area, but where we are at in roseville, the water comes out brown some times.
i have also read that lead was found in the drinking water, at schools, in new jersey.
with fracking going wrong, etc. our water systems are being poisoned. i would def. advise using a good filter system or drinking good bottled water.

I am using filtered tap from the fridge but was setting my tap out to allow it to "gas off" the chlorine. I called the water company and our local water uses chlorine. If your water supplier is using chloramine, there will be an issue as the chloramine will not gas off. As far as fridge water-unless you buy the more expensive filters, the only thing they filter are basically the chlorine.

If your tap water is safe for human consumption, then it is safe for gliders. No need to let it sit out the counter to gas off, boil it or anything else.
In fact, if using tap water from your home, I would suggest taking that same water when you travel so your gliders won't have any tummy issues just like we sometimes do when we travel

Good to know! I will keep the water for trips in mind as we intend to visit my BIL in the summer.

We have well water at home that gets tested 4x a year. It tastes delicious. And I give this to the girls.
While on the road, I keep some in the fridge for them, and when it runs out, I buy spring water. Not purified. Springwater has all the minerals left in. This is just my prefrence.
We travel with work a minimum 9 months out of the year with a 5th wheel in tow...
Right now we are in Mississippi. The water here is soft, but smells like mud.

I get a couple gallons of spring water and use that for my girls. We have a fridge with filtered water, but for human consumption I get water from a Water Store. 4 filtered 5 gallon bottles for $10. Can't beat that at it tastes great! But for my girls, they get Poland Spring and nothing else.
