Well, chip prolapsed again on 2/11. He’s been on meds since 2/1. Keep Chip in your prayers, he is scheduled for surgery to have his anal gland removed tomorrow. I won’t be able to pick him up until Wednesday. The doctor said quality of life following surgery is positive. I will update this post on his recovery. Thank you all for your support.

Chip is out of surgery.

It went well, but chip started to over clean his surgical area when he woke. Heavy meds to keep him sedated for the next 24 hours so he doesn’t self mutilate, and he’s on watch. They will send him home once he stops the over cleaning.
They don’t plan on using an e jacket or e- color unless absolutely necessary. They said within the 24 hours the surgical area should be in the mend. We will see.
The good news is that the drainage wasn't as discolored as before, although the anal gland was very enlarged. . So antibiotics have been working, not enough though.

Hi all! Just had a check up for Chip- he is healing, doctor is a bit concerned about some coloration, another check up on Monday.

My question now is that since Chip has been back 2 of my other gliders want nothing to do with him. They won’t sleep in the same pouch. Chip’s brother will stay with him. Any reason other than his scent may be different? Will they repair their bond with him? They are not fighting and all are in the same cage, they just won’t sleep together any longer. Should This post be moved?
