So I just got my two girls on Saturday and boy are they crabby. I'm leaving them alone as it says in the bonding process. They did take a treat out of my hand tho! Then they did that I noticed how long and sharp their nails are.

Would it set back the bonding process if I cupped them in my hand and clipped their nails? I feel like it might be too traumatic and may set the bonding process back. What do you guys think?

When I trim nails I put them in a pouch and drag one paw out at a time, while holding the gliders body with my hand.

Once I get the paw out I hold it with my left hand and then us my arm to gently hold the pouch shut so they can't get their head out to bite.

If they are clenching a little fist put your thumb in their palm and press and it should open right up.

While handling new gliders, it's always a good idea for them not to associate your hands with bad things. Use a handkerchief size of fleece to catch them. They will only be mad at the fleece for a short time. I still use fleece to pull them out of the sleeping pouch to clip their nails. That way they have something familiar to hold on to.

Thank you for the great ideas. I was worried I would disrupt the bonding process but if I use your suggestions I should be fine. My old glider would just sit and let me do it. She was such an angel. I didn't even need to hold her, so this is waaay different than what I'm used to.
