Hi everyone. I currently have a pair of 5 month twins. Neutered male & female
I'm now looking for another pair to integrate into one colony. I want a female/female or female/male pair. Male will be neutered and Id like 8 weeks oop for bonding purposes. My question is,are they more likely to accept each other from the start since they are all still young? I'm really trying to avoid getting a second cage since it would only be used for a month or so and then not needed

In my experience, when building a colony, it's good to have a second cage for mishaps. It doesn't have to be a huge one.

At their ages, you will already have a chain of command, or pecking order. There will already be an alpha.

It's good to do intros, one on one and I recommend a 30 quarantine and 2 vet visits. One when you get them and just before intros. A urine and fecal done both times.

You don't want the new gliders to bring in something like a sickness or parasite, and then all gliders will have to be treated by a vet.

Thank you. What are your thoughts about a 3rd cage though? I had read had once you do combine you want it to be in a 3rd cage that has neither colonies scent on yet. Is that very necessary or would a good scrub down of one of the cages suffice?

A good scrub down is fine. When doing intros, you'll want a neutral(clean) pouch too for them to sleep in for the day. You will also want to be home to monitor the next 24 hours, and set out dinner before they wake up. Sat several dishes around cage in case there is food agression.
