I’m planning on getting sugar gliders in January and I already found some stuff for them. Something I’m still working on is the diet. I found pellets, vitamins, and recipes online. I wanted to know what would be the best diet. Here are the two brands of pellets I found.

Since you are from Indonesia, do a search from your side to see if Critterlove products are available. That would be one of the best choices for you.

I checked if Critterlove is avalible but I found nothing. I actually am not from Indonesia I’m just living there so it’s a bit hard for me to find things so I’m mainly looking online. Are the other pellets ok if I give them fruits, vegetables, vitamins, and insects as well or do I need to give them something else?

Critterlove/Peggy does not have a distributor for Indonesia, however, she does ship there. You really need to feed something specifically meant for sugar gliders which marzuri is not.

They need a good staple plus fruits/veggies which you probably already know.

If Critterlove is beyond what you can afford because of your location, then check some of the other diets which can be made to see if you can get all the ingredients where you are.

We will do our best to help you.

What about the other one? It’s vitakraft vitasmart for sugar gliders. Would that work? I’m going to look for recipes online as well.

Vitasmart nor Mazuri were made specifically for sugar gliders. Neither will provide you with the proper nutrients that a sugar glider requires to thrive and have a long and happy life.
If you are wanting to offer a pellet diet, I would recommend feeding the Critter Love Complete along with the Critter Love Kibbles.

I just found the HPW and BML diet that I could homemake. Which one would be better to make. This is the instant HPW diet I found. Whichever one I make they will get fresh fruits and vegetables and insects as a snack.

Can you tell who manufactures the HPW?

As for the BML, it has been fed for years successfully, however, it is very restrictive as far as fruits and veggies which may not be a problem for you or your gliders.

That HPW is from Exotic Nutrition and is not recommended. Some have stated it has made their gliders ill and some state they are concerned it is what caused their gliders death.

If, for some reason, you do not go with critterlove (see Feather's message for a distributor)... I would not, personally, go with a pellet diet. I have yet to see one made for gliders that didn't have a lot of complaints or concerns from those who've used it. Look through the forums, you'll see what I mean.

You need to provide them with a variety of fruits & veggies, & a protein source to maintain their health. This should be pretty easy from any grocery store, just make sure you wash everything well if it's from a Farmer's Market. Look up The Pet Glider diet or the Sun Coast diet as these should be pretty easy to duplicate with just local stores. I served mine the Sun Coast for over a year & they remained healthy.

I would strongly recommend the CritterLove diets, but should you need alternatives, those would be my recommendations.

Thanks for your advice. I chose to make the BML diet from this recipe http://bmldiet.com/bml-recipe.html and I found all of the ingredients except the Juice could I use any mixed fruit juice or do I need a certain type?

When I fed this diet, I used 1/2 half unsweetened apple juice. The other half was plain full fat yogurt( no artificial sugar).

Remember to read the veggies/fruits that can be fed carefully. This is the only diet that is very restrictive with the fruits/veggies. They still get a good variety. You don't need to feed all the different veggies every night. You can just feed a couple and switch them up in different combinations. This will give them variety and also tell you which ones they may not prefer. Could be they prefer them in a different combination dunno

You can also look up Lucky Glider Rescue Sanctuary's "Suggie Soup". I've been feeding it to my gliders for nearly 9 years. Almost all the ingredients are easily procured and can have dual use with your own household (orange juice, yogurt, eggs, honey, protein powder, etc.). The exceptional ingredients are calcium supplement, bee pollen and black fly pupae. I just skip the black fly pupae since I use the same blender for my own treats and give my gliders extra dried mealworms.
