Come upon someone saying water bottle is bad for gliders teeth.
you should use a dish instead.

I use several bottles and one bird silo, gliders seem to use tongue on water bottle ball not teeth.
also dish seems like it would get pee and poo in so would be contaminated quickly.

dish better..

I have heard that sometimes very young joeys have a hard time getting used to the water bottle at first, however, being bad for their teeth is a new one for me. Have to say I have never heard this before shakehead

Personally, I always preferred the water bottle simply because of the cleanliness factor which you stated. No matter how high you place a water bowl, we all know they are capable of getting pee/poo in it.

Some people do use the water bowl, but it has to be cleaned constantly. Water bottles also have to be checked to make sure they do not get clogged (the little ball). I never had a problem with them. Many people use silos now, which are gravity only with nothing to clog. Just make sure they are secure to the cage.

Any water source should be checked daily to make sure there are no problems.

I have water bottles, but I also have food dishes that are divided into 3 sections so they also get water in one section every night. I can see a big difference in their fur this winter because I am offering the open water source.

Fiona was our first glider. She was/is on the small side.

I was told to use a water bottle... I tried several... I watched her use the last one I bought ($21). The very tip of her tongue got caught, just for a split second. The ball bearing I think was too heavy. I don't think it hurt her but After that, I never put another one back in her cage. That happened week 2 of our glider slavery... I've never shared that, but I think about it every time this comes up. I see her tongue stretched out trying to get it back...

At home, I use bird silos from Walmart $1.22 I put 2 in. I change them out with clean ones every other day or two. They do wash their mouth out in it which I think is a good thing.

While on the road in the RV, I use dishes and change them out daily with their dinner dishes. They definitely wash their face and hands in it...
