Hi there, our family recently adopted a brother sister pair of gliders. They are 8 weeks old and we’ve had them for 3 days now. We’re mostly set and have the appropriate cage, toys, and will be getting brother fixed when he’s age appropriate. I’m just nervous about their diet and doing it all right. They were part of a science class where the class breeds a pair, they’re very friendly aside from a little crabbing when you disturb them initially but when I asked about their diet it was more like cat food, fruits, baby food and yogurt 🙄. The cat food bothered me I’m wanting to remedy this and know EXACTLY what to be feeding them. I bought a dry glider food from the pet store and then ordered the HPW from exotic nutrition. I am mixing the dry glider food w the cat food to transition them off it if they’re even eating it 🤷ðŸ»â€â™€ï¸ And I’ll start the HPW once I receive it. But in terms of yogurt and fruits and veggies, how much do I give them per day? Measurement wise? And do I stick to just a few things since they’re babies? They seem to love apples and mango but not banana. I’m so nervous to hurt them and I want them to be as healthy as can be. We of course did a ton of research but the woman we purchased them from was very vague. If they were my babies going to a new home I’d be giving a binder of info w them 😂😂

Welcome to GliderCENTRAL!! First off, return your order of HPW from Exotic Nutrition! It has caused deaths in gliders. It was tested by a third party and what is in the bag is not what is on the label. It hasn't been tested. I would go with one of the tested diets, such as: Critterlove Plus or Complete with the recommended salad mixtures. Click HERE!The Pocket Pets diet, Dr. Brusts diets Smart HPW or BML We try to warn everyone off of the Exotic Nutrition food. Their Instant HPW is bad their stuff in a jar is even scarier.

Crap 😩 Okay, I will do that. It’s so hard on the Internet because it’s all so conflicting and everyone takes such a different approach.

I started with Exotic Nutrition stuff and switched to Critter Love. The gliders are much more active now. Definitely recommend.

I also started my babies out on Exotic Nutrition due to lack of information, and after a bone break in one of my babies, I started cracking down on diet information. Not saying their diet caused the break, but I'm not saying it didn't play part in it by maybe not getting enough calcium. I switched to Critter Love Plus and all of my babes are happier and healthier all around. Their coats are beautiful and SO soft. Plus, they eat much more than they used to!

Happy Glide kibble is a good kibble to have on the side. I put a cup in with a few pieces every now and then. I feed Critterlove Plus with the recommended salad mixtures. There are 5 mixtures that you rotate through. Best diet out there in my honest opinion.

Mealworms or superworms are a great way to bond with your new babies, all I have to say is Jonesy worms and he comes running up out of his cage on my lap ready to eat. Dehydrated Cobia cat treats are really good for that too if you're squeamish about worms. They are both high in protein which gliders need... Congratulations on your new babies
