I feel like I’m always on here asking questions! LOL. Anyway, I have another one. It’s about staining. I have two gliders and they are both SO stained. I do have an unneautured male, and I understand that that can cause a lot of staining on the chest. But it’s not just his chest. His back is so stained as well. My female is VERY stained on her belly, and slightly stained everywhere else. I feed TPG. I change the sleeping pouches once a week. I don’t know if I’m cleaning too much or too little or what all is causing the staining. Are there any fruits/vegetables/foods that might contribute to that? Is it just because of my male? Is there any way to get the staining to decrease/go away?

Him being unneutered plays a big part in the staining. It could be your diet playing a part in it too.
TPG hasn't been tested because there is just to many variables in the diet.

I would switch diets and if your not going to breed them have him neutered.

I personally feed Critterlove Plus with the recommended salad mixtures. I use salad 1 and 3.

Could you define the staining? Is it just a yellow color to the fur, or does it seem to be a bit moist, or oily looking? Is it like a big spot, or all over color change?

Do they seem to have a strong smell?

Can you post a pic of the stain?

It's just yellow, no moist or oily looking. It's not a spot, just over all changing. There are small spots of pure white fur behind my male's ears and fairly white fur on my female's head. They do not have a strong smell at all. I'm not sure when this started.
Here is a picture of their backs. (Female is on the left, male on right) I have a hard time getting pictures of their stomachs, but it is much worse than their backs.
The pic isn't the best quality.

They are a pretty pair!

Looks like diet to me. I'm not aware of anything else that would stain their fur like that.

It may take a while for their color to turn back to normal.

:urwelcome: wave

I've been racking my brain for another possible issue and I haven't come up with anything else.

Clean pouches

Neuter ✓ soon.

They both look good, their coats look fairly healthy other than discoloration.

Unless they are marking/over marking and then rubbing in it. But if that were the case, their fur would look dirty. Is there a grate between them and the drop pan?

Edit: I had to read over post again to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Above when I said their coat looked fairly healthy, I had to go back and verify who was who in pic. The female's fur around her hip area was a bit ruffled up, but could be "bed fur" and she didn't groom it before pic(normal). Neither look like their fur is cracked(that's a good sign).

I agree with Feather's thoughts and ideas too.

We love questions BTW. smile

Okay, I will def look into changing diets and will see if that makes a difference along with neutering. Yes, there is a grate between them and the drop pan. I have a big piece of fleece over that as well.
Thank you! This website has been SO HELPFUL!

I was just thinking. I have an enclosed track wheel from Exotic Nutrition and they are ALWAYS running on that. Could that contribute to the staining?

It could those wheels are a cleaning nightmare. Very hard to keep the wheel clean.
