I just noticed that my sugar gliders tail looked a little weird and when I looked closer it looks like it's been injured and that the bone might be sticking out! I didn't notice this yesterday and I'm freaking out! I'm gonna try to get her into the vet tomorrow but I don't know what I need to do in the meantime. One of her cage mates can get pretty aggressive with her over food so I don't want to put her back in the cage. But I'm also not sure if it's SM. Any advice on what I should do?!

Separating them is a start, if she is leaving it alone then keep an eye on her. Here is a link to make an e-collar.

Thank you! I've got them separated and hopefully i can get her to the vet in the morning. Any alternatives to the moleskin? I don't have that and I don't know how quickly I can get it.

I tried to register but when i try to log in it says I need to verify my email but I never got a verification email..

I was able to get her to a vet and they were able to get her in for surgery today! She was lucky enough to only have a little bit amputated. I am so grateful that it wasn't very bad. My new problem is that they had to put a really long e collar on her cause she's tried to chew on her tail. She's going insane over the collar and I'm worried about how stressed she is about it. Any tips on how to handle this situation?

She is just going to have to deal with the e-collar for a while. I had one that was in an e-collar for months because he wouldn't leave his tail alone.
They adjust. You may want to use a bird silo for his staple and feed him on a cottage cheese container lid to make it easier for him to eat.

Oh my gosh, I really hope she doesn't have to do that!

Unfortunately they made the collar so long that I'll have to feed her by hand. But I appreciate the suggestions!

To help her be able to snack while you're asleep, cut some vegs/fruits in long pieces and cut so they can be pushed into the cage wire. Make it where she can reach them if she aims toward them correctly. Apples, carrots, sweet potato, a sprig of kale or bok choy, a dandelion flower, daffodil.

Thanks for helping me register!

She got the straw off her tail and chewed the stitches off. You said you had a glider who had problems with not leaving their tail alone. What did you do to keep them away from their tail?

She's not eating very much mush. But when i give her yogurt treats she acts like she's starving. I don't think she eats very much normally but I'm worried that she's not eating any real food. Should I be worried?

What does the mush consist of? Is this mush her regular diet?

They don't have a "regular" mush. I change the fruits and veggies everytime so they get a variety. She's barely even eating her favorite fruits at this point. Just the yogurt treats.

I had to take her back to the vet yesterday so they could put new stitches in. Now she won't stop trying to get her cone off. She's slept for maybe 5 min in the last 10 hours. I'm worried about how much energy she's expending with the lack of sleep and food.

I've signed in so feel free to move the thread.
