I still spend quite a bit of time visiting Miscellaneous...since my husband is still working there. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dance.gif" alt="" />

...and the closest Walmart is in Miscellaneous too.

Hmmm, I'm in Pennsylvania - the southwest actually, about an hour from Pittsburgh. Sugar Gliders are illegal in PA? One of our local pet stores sells them...a big chain too, not some little Mom and Pop place.

I was hoping to find some parents in the area but I guess not? Shucks!

Yes, gliders are still illegal in PA to my knowledge. I doubt the laws will change anytime soon.

I contacted the local game officer and was told that sugar gliders are legal in PA

Yippee!!! I just got my two suggies a few days ago and was worried when I started seeing illegal in PA posts....I'm glad that is cleared up!!

The problem is permits....you still need a permit to keep a sugar glider legally as a pet, and the game commission is not issuing new permits.

wait...so they are legal as long as you have a permit..but they arent issuing any....does that technically make them ILLEGAL?

They haven't issued permits in years. From what I understand they don't have any plans to start either. So without a permit you can't own them legally.....making them illegal to possess in PA.

I'm from Pennsylvania, and I know a bunch of people who own gliders in my area. I contacted the game commissions office in Harrisburg, and the told me that Gliders are not illegal to own in PA!!! It is only Illegal to buy, or sell gliders outside of the state!!! If you buy or sell inside the state then you do not need a permit!!! Unfortunatly they are not passing out any permits at all. What I heard so far is that once/if you obtain a permit you can buy, or sell outside of the state, BUT YOU CANNOT SHIP THEM WHAT SO EVER!!! If you would purchase one outside of the state you would have to pick it up. I've been talking back and forth with the game commission for months now, and this is an on going battle that you must face if you reside in Pennsylvania.(Most of the people I talked to at the game commission didn't even know what a glider was they had to look it up and call me back)

So in order to own a glider you must buy one within the state, if you cannot find anyone selling within the state then you probably will never own one. You must buy one within the state.. I already know that.. i already know everything you are telling me... But how did THAT person you are getting them from get there sugar gliders? If they had them before the Sandy Reynolds case then it is okay..but i dont think it is legal to get one if they had theirs after that.
