Getting my first 2 today naming them Piper and cessna because I really love to fly.

I am in Wichita KS. Born and raised and probably will never leave (except on vacation). New mommy to two adorable suggie boys (brothers). In fact one is watching mommys screen and is facinated by it.

Hey Hedgechic, funny meeting you here, lol. Give me a call. And tell the boys to be good for me, no computer after midnight.

Hi guys,
My wife & I are new sugar owners. We're in Olathe. We'll get our little girl after we get back from our Christmas vacation (we've already put down a deposit & ordered a cage). The breeder we purchased from is also in Olathe (& they have a joey IP).

Hello Chaz, Welcome aboard. Congrats on your coming joey. I am now in Florida, but from Kansas, about an hour south of Olathe. And we are going there for our Christmas vacation. Glad to have you here.

Hello Chaz and welcome!
I live in Prescott, about an hour south of Olathe off hwy 69.

Who are you getting your new little one from?

Yah Dancing, I've read your page! I'm familiar with the area you're in. I've got some friends in Ft. Scott, I used to go down there to go 4-wheelin'

I wanted to talk with you anyway. My wife & I are considering a 2nd glider maybe sometime in the spring. We're really interested in possibly rescuing one (as with many who are interested in gliders, we're bleeding hearts & love to help out). I just read someone's rescue story in the chat forum & it made me want to do a rescue even more.

We're getting our joey from a hobby breeder. She & her husband moved down here from MN, he runs the salt tanks at T-Rex. They live right up the street from us & I found them on craigslist.

I think I'm going to pick our little girl up tomorrow. My dad's a college bball coach & they have a game tonight. I want to be able to sit around the house with a bonding pouch on the night I get her.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
-Chaz

Gardner, KS here. My husband and I are fairly new owners. We've had our gliders for about a year now. We got first one when a friend was having troubles and couldn't keep her's anymore. We bought our second one from a breeder in Grain Valley. (My Little Gremlin) Both males now live happily together in the same cage.

I'm in Prescott but I also have a house in Leavenworth. We moved down here (about an hour south of KC) a year and a half ago. We are having a lunch on March 24th at the Denny's in Independence if you would like to join us. There should be a thread in Special Events

Keep an eye on the Special Events forum. There's a get together the weekend of May 19th - the thread is titled 2007 MWSGGA.

Hey! I live in Manhattan too. I have never been to Scaly Dave's though. I don't spend too much time down in Aggieville since my husband is military. I didn't realize they sold gliders there either?!? That sort of makes me mad. I know I HATE the pet store in Westloop Plaza. Puppies should not be confined to a tiny cage all day long in a store. It's horrible. I hope they have improved things over at Scaly Daves also. If not, maybe I'll go look at what they have and see if I can help a glider out??

I have been to Scaly Daves, its a bad pet store, he sales alot of questionable "pets". He breeds them and really pushes you to buy gliders and buy his bml made up in jars. Be prepared to be shocked when you go in there Mrs. King.

Hey, I'm currently in Manhattan also. I also found that "Scaly Dave" was pushy. He tried to get me to buy a bunch of different stuff that I didn't need. I also don't like the Westloop pet store. I tend to go to Animal House, but they don't really have sugar glider stuff.

Hi Angie!! So glad to meet another person in Manhattan! I went in to Scaly Dave's a while ago and he didn't even have gliders out in the store anywhere. I thought he was a jerk personally! I walked around the store and kept looking over to see if anyone would help me and finally one of the store people came up to me and asked what I was looking for so I told them "I heard you sell gliders?". They told me I would have to talk to Dave about it so I found him and asked him if he still sold them and if he had any available. He said he does sell them but he only has 4 at the moment and that they were "at home". He asked what I was looking for and when I told him a single female he laughed and said "Sorry, I only sell in pairs... Otherwise I'd be STUCK with a bunch of males and what good would that be?" Real nice huh!? I didn't even ask how much he was selling a pair for becuase at that point I determined he doesnt really care about suggies. Also, another point, one of the clerks was going about feeding the many large contrictors they have and two were fighting over a rat. When the clerk was trying to get Dave's help to separate them, he refused to help and said "Just let them fight- I'm done caring about those two. They will probably just kill each other anyways". I WAS SHOCKED! I will never go in there again and I feel so bad for those suggies!!!

As for Pets N' Stuff in Westloop, they are ok. But honestly I don't really approve of ANY pet store that keeps little puppies locked up in tiny cages all day long! It's just not right or fair to them...

I also go to Animal House for everything I need and if I can't find it on there, I order it online lol. There aren't many options around here in Manhattan.

Also, Angie, I was wondering where you got your two gliders??

Mrs King,

I "rescued" my two gliders from a couple of girls here in town who rescued them from a couple that was mistreating them. So, I can't help you there.

Yeah, I got the "jerk" vibe from him too, but I can't believe what he said. I will NOT be going back there at all.

I agree, there aren't many options in Manhattan. Online is the best bet.
