I've had this air purifier for a year or two and it works well in the 12'x14' room my glider live in. It's reasonably priced already but I got mine when they were on sale at Target for 20% off.

You do have to replace the filter but they sell them at Target. I really want a purifier with a permanent filter that you just rinse with water to clean. Unfortunately, it seems like they all cost over $100.

Elizabeth, be careful if you get an air purifier that you just wipe off. If you are talking about one like the Ionic Breeze, they emit ozone which is bad for humans so I would assume it wouldn't be good for suggies either. Some of them have an attachment that removes the ozone as it filters too. Make sure the one you get does not emit ozones.

My sister got one of those, as she has asthma. She had to return it, it was making her sick!

I have an airmaster by rainsoft that was installed in my attic connected to my airconditioner. I don't have too much of a smell from my gliders. The airmaster removes odors and pollens in your house. Since we got it my son's bad allergies have decreased rapidly. He was haveing to use allergy meds daily and an inhaler. We are now off it all and can use claritin daily and it is so much better. They are pricey but you only change the lights every 3 years and that's it. You can check them out at www.rainsoft.com.

At my mom's house if dad has been smoking the water turns colors from absorbing the smoke from the air.. I love my rainmate though, best air purifier I've ever bought (I had an Ionic Breeze then found out they're horrible for people with asthma, and I hated wiping the thing clean too!)
