I caught my gliders in the act today and I happened to have my camera on hand, so I snapped a couple pictures and recorded a short video of them mating... I've attached the pictures, I don't know how to add the video, but if you want to see it, send me a message and I'll send it to you...

Many mew comers to gliders get panicked the first time they see this part of a male glider, and are worried that something is wrong, but we all have to remember that their reproductive systems are designed differently than those of mammals …

Pretty amazing pics! I still am not sure my two have ever mated, although they sure make a lot of noise some nights! I've certainly never seen anything like that with my two. And they only time you even 'hear' anything is when they are in their pouch! lol
WOW... IT IS GRAPHIC BUT very educational! I had no idea Thier "thingies" look like that lol... ( Thingies lol you can tell I am a mother of boys lol )

Hubby and I were just saying we were watching glider porn. LOL. Great video Leyna. Actually, I wanted to hear what it sounds like. I have no idea when Romeo and Jezabelle mated because she barks all night every night. She crabs a lot too so I never knew until I found bumps.
Thanks for sharing Leyna.

Leyna, The pictures are graphic BUT very educational. The video is excellent as well.
As many of you have noted, there was no sound from the gliders during their mating. Many gliders don't make any sounds at all during mating. Others do. It just depends on the individual gliders
Anybody that's ever met my gliders will tell you they are anything but bashful, lol.
Those 2 gliders are kind of an odd pair. Teddy, is a 3 year old non-producing male white tip, and Larkin, is a 12 year old non-producing standard. Neither of them have ever produced to my knowledge, yet both are willing and able to mate and do so regularly. They are also the most obvious of my gliders when it comes to mating and after I see them mating, I can usually count 16 days and find joeys in the pouch of one of my other females. I don't know if the smell of the other gliders gets them fired up or if they are just on the same cycle, but their mating seems to coincide with my other gliders...

WOW! I before I went to bed last night I checked on the new OOP babies and pulled out the whole family at once. I pulled the babies off and discovered that Romeo was actually mating with Belle again! Other than briefly stopping to mug for the camera, he just kept going. Leyna, apparently you end up with some majorly exhibitionist gliders there! I got some pics as well. Not as detailed as yours were but I was amazed that we are going to (hopefully) have babies again soon. I am so excited!
Anyway, the mama came from Leyna so I wanted to share the pics of them.

I used to have a concord eyeQ (4 mp) and have since upgraded to a Konica Minolta Dimage G600 (6 mp). The Dimage is probably about the most bang for your buck you can get. It's got a built in zoom lens, almost no time laps between photos, shoots nice video, etc. I just love it...

Reminds me of the first time my mother in law seen Scooby Doo on the table mating with Sweets. She about passed out on the table until I explained this was 'normal' and not to panic.
All I did was pull them out of the bonding pouch. Scooby didn't mind and neither did Sweets. I should have gotten my own pics to share. Didn't think about it at the time.
Thanks for sharing all. Great shots. Great educational value to show others that this in fact normal behavior.
