Could someone send me PML, or the link to find it.

Also, does anyone know --

I want to print out this whole thread, because I can't remember all the good ideas mentioned! Does someone know how to print out the whole thread, with just the comments, and not the art?

Thanks!

EDIT: Gina, that's what I ended up doing - cutting and pasting!

JAZZYJ: Could you please email me the "new" diet sheet? Thanks!
Valkyriemome@aol.com

Oh, EDIT again:
For a while I thought that "Ps" diet, "PML" and "BML" represented TWO different diets, with PML and "P" being the same thing.

Now I've read more, and I understand that those are THREE diets.

So, what is PML? Could someone link to that, please? BML, I know - it is what I feed Rocket now!

I'm a little late coming to this thread... but I just want to say a big Thank You! to you all for holding this discussion grin ! I have to say with all the diet research I've done, Priscilla's diet was one that still confused me! But thanks to this discussion, I've been able to clear up a lot of my confusion. I still have a few questions though...

I sent a PM to agilitygliders to ask a few questions... Still waiting to hear back though, Billy wink ...

Basically, I've been feeding Darcy's diet for over 2 yrs. with real good results all along up until recently. So I never really gave any thought to switching diets or trying something else. But now in the last couple weeks, I've had 2 seperate pairs of mine reject joeys. Since I've never had a single rejection prior to this, I'm not entirely sure it's diet related, but it has made me want to take a closer look at other diet options and at least consider the possibility.

So I'd love to hear from anyone who feeds this diet and also breeds. What have your results been as far as rejections/cannibalizing of joeys? Has anybody had a glider with a history of rejecting on another diet that then switched to this diet and now the glider is no longer rejecting?

Also, an unrelated question... and this one's kind of silly... but does anyone know why Priscilla says to use a wooden spoon to mix? Does this really matter?

And as to the flax seed and wheat germ... What is the difference between these? Priscilla says to use one or the other. Does anyone know the benefits of one over the other? Why not use both? Either alternate, flax seed in one mix, wheat germ in the next, etc. or even use half and half in each mix?

I don't know the difference between flax seed and wheat germ.

But I know that in humans, flax seed oil (taken as a supplement) can be taken instead of fish oil as a source of Omega-3. It is easier to digest for many, and doesn't cause a "burb-back" side effect. It actually seems to be a more "useable" source for the oil.

But I don't know if Wheat Germ has the same effect, or benefits, or if it is completely different in gliders!

So let me see if I've got this right.

You alternate between the chicken, egg, and plain mix. With the plain mix you can either give 20 mealies per glider, or you can give 10 mealies per day, 7 days a week?
Now with the fruits and veggies, is it 3/4 of each for chicken, 3/4 of each for egg, 3/4 of each with the plain batch? That is, 3/4 cup of fruit AND 3/4 cup of veggies? And is that amount for one batch that has either egg, chicken, or nothing in it? And the amount of vitamins--1/8 of a teaspoon no matter how many gliders? Or 1/8 per glider?

Sorry if these questions have already been answered!

I made my first batch of P's diet up today....

I used my birthday present, the Vidalia Chop Wizdard The smaller blade set was AWESOME at chopping all kinds of fruits and veggies in small, but still "holdable" pieces.
I had all kinds of fun! LOL

However, I did like P's site said and froze the mix in ziplock bags about 1/2" thick.
It's AWFUL hard to break off a piece, even after I slammed it with my meat tenderizer, it hardly cracked.....

I'm wondering if I can thaw the bags out in the fridge and refreeze them in ice cube trays??
Any thoughts on if this would be a bad thing to do???

Don't thaw and refreeze.

Never a safe thing to do. Food doesn't re-freeze well, and will harbor bacteria.

Stormshy7 I did the same thing and ended up taking a hammer to it out on the deck it took some good smacking but it did break up into small enough pieces.
I have to say my suggies love this stuff.

When I place my fruits in ziplock bags and in the freezer I will wait an hour or so, just as it is starting to freeze, take it out and seperate the pieces a bit and put it back in the freezer. Tends not to freeze as hard as a rock that way.

I know a few others will lay their fruits on cookie sheets and freeze it like that and then place it in a ziplock, but personally I cut up too much at one time to do that.

Ok, I came up with a new easy way to do this. I just made my new batch last weekend. After you make everything and mix in your fruits and veggies scoop it into a snack size bag or if you have more gliders a bigger bag. I labeled each bag and then froze it. Before I go to school each morning I set a bag out to thaw all day and then when i get home I just open it and scoop it onto the plates. I was able to use snack size bags since I don't feed many gliders. I have been making P's diet for years and this way is sooooooooo easy. I recommend trying it atleast once. If you have questions how what I send just shoot me a PM.

I freeze all mine in ice-cube trays. When they are done freezing, I pop out all the cubes and put them in freezer zip-loc bags. Then I just take out however many cubes I'm going to feed and let them thaw. I mush them up when they have softened enough, then I feed it to my gliders. This way is very easy for me.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. I got my boys from Priscilla and continued them on her diet for a few weeks after they came to me. I decided to switch diets because the boys weren't eating much of it, although now I know that because they were babies at the time they just couldn't eat all of the adult portions I was serving. I ended up putting them on Darcy's diet instead because Nocturne refuses to eat honey or anything that contains honey so diets like PML and BML were completely out of the running.

A little while ago I ordered some new vitamins from Priscilla and collected all the fixins for her diet. I mixed up the "goop" recipe with a couple changes to make it better suit my boys. The biggest difference is that I added 1 cup of papaya juice to the mixture to mellow and sweeten the taste because Nocturne doesn't generally care for applesause but he loves papaya. I used to give the boys a dish of papaya juice about 3 times a week anyway so now I'm just incorporating that into their goop.

I freeze just the goop alone into ice cube trays, empty the trays once frozen, and store the cubes in a ziplock baggie in the freezer. Keeping the goop separate means I'm free to add any type of fresh or frozen fruits and veggies each night. I also feed all protein separate.

My gliders are making little piggies of themselves with the new diet. They absolutely love the taste. The boys are looking great after only a few weeks of being back on Priscilla's diet. I weighed them the other day and each has slimmed down a little bit now that they're off the Ensure. Neither one of my gliders is obese and each has always maintained a healthy weight, but I do worry about them getting too heavy because they have been neutered.

I ended up using those Glad re-useable containers I think they are 4 oz size. This holds just enough for one nights dinner for 8 gliders. I measured it into them and froze it When I use it at night I take out a new one for the next night and thaw it in the fridge so it is ready the next night. This way all the feeding things are done at one time during the day!

Brenda,
That's a good idea!

I have a granddaughter, and her mom gets her the babyfood that comes in a little almost-tupperware-like container. It is larger than an icecube tray, but roughly that size and the little rectangle is that shape. And it has a snap on lid.

I have her save those, and I put the food (I use BML) in those, and then put the little containers in a zip lock bag in the freezer.

I usually take out one, microwave it for about 20 seconds, and then mix in Rocket's fruits and veggies.

Now why didn't I think about just putting tomorrow's in the fridge? Doh!

Oh -- I had asked this before but not received an answer.

Please, someone send me links to PML diet. North_Nocturn's mom -- What is Darcy's diet?

Rocket is on BML and he does OK on it, but I wish he ate better. So, I thought I'd look into different diets. Is there a place where ALL the diets are explained?

Val,

If you go to the very top of the page....click on the blue button that says links....then click on the very first word that says diet links.....you will find links to almost every diet, including PML and Darcy's.

I use ice cube trays to freeze mine into individual portions and then I put one cube in his bowl in the evening with a little bottled water or juice poured over it. I have found my boy likes it a little wetter and he really enjoys it this way. It is still frozen when I put it in the tray but the one time I gave it to him completely thawed he didn't like it and only ate the cereal.
