My gosh, this had me in tears. I am so very sorry for your loss. At least now she can watch over little Nara and be her personal guardian angel since Nara took such good care of her on earth. I will keep you and your family and little Nara in my thoughts and prayers. *HUGS*

Oh, Suz......I am SO sorry to hear of your loss, I know how much you loved her. It is so hard to tell you through my tears how much my heart goes out to you, your family and Nara......God bless Pika, she is with her beloved Cricky now and they are happy and enternally young at the Bridge. They know how much they were loved and always will be. This just doesn't sound adequate for what you've lost, but know that we all grieve with you.

"Thank you" just doesn't seem like enough to say to all of you for your love, comfort and support. Although I'm not on much this week - know that I'm grateful to you all for everything you do for me and for the glider community. GC is a great place to be in this time of loss... Pika's legacy to us all will live on within this great community/family! I can't resist sharing a few more pictures of her with you all... Anyone who has read Erin Hunter's 'Warriors' will know where this came from. I thought gliders needed a Star Clan, too. That's the spirits of our babies and their warrior ancestors, who watch over, guide, and protect our gliders (and who knows, maybe even us) from the Rainbow Bridge, and who our gliders go to join when their time here is done. For Pika Pika was a grey sugar glider. She lived in a house with her twolegs (humans) that loved and cared for her, and other glider neighbors. She knew she was loved for a lot of reasons. Even though her world had grown dark when her eyes went bad, she was warm, fed, and loved, and her twolegs fussed over her when she didn't feel well, which was happening more often lately, especially since her mate, Cricky, had gone to join Star Clan. Her joeys had all long since grown and left the nest, and when Cricky left, she was lonely and cried for him. That's when Mom got her a new friend named Nara. Nara wasn't cricky, but she loved Pika, cared for her, helped her, and brought her food...even groomed her and fixed her pouch blankets when Pika couldn't. Nara was very special to Pika, and she was grateful to Mom for giving her to her. Pika knew she had lived for a long time, and was getting tired. It had been worse since Cricky left, but Nara seemed to give her a reason to hold on. One day, though, she woke up feeling every one of her 13 years. She was sick to her stomach, weak, and couldn't control her potty. Nara was there for her...cleaning her up, fixing her blankets, and bringing her food, and Mom gave her meds to try and help her failing body. She felt very loved. While she was so sick, she smelled a familiar scent. Cricky! But that was impossible...Cricky had gone to join Star Clan. Yet she could smell him! "Cricky?" she thought, confused, "Is that you?" His sweet voice ghosted through her mind like a whisper..."It's me. I'm watching over you, and we'll be together soon, but not quite yet. Just know I'm with you." She caught his scent again, and almost thought she could feel the soft brush of his fur against hers...then it was gone, and Nara was there caring for her. Her body felt tired, and she missed Cricky. But Mom and Nara loved her too, and needed her. So she mustered all her strength, and started getting better. For a few days, her body obeyed her again, and she thought she'd be okay. Then she woke up and knew she was on the floor of the cage, and didn't have the strength to get up. She knew Nara was afraid, and couldn't help, and Mom was, too. Pika knew she looked a mess, but didn't have the energy to clean herself any more. Star Clan was calling her, but Pika's will was strong, and she held on, despite her body's failure. Pika knew Nara and Mom were sad, and she could neither leave nor stay, but was sort of in between. Mom understood, and made a hard decision for Pika. The next morning, they went to the vet. Pika knew by the smell of the place they went. Gliders never forget smells, and because she couldn't see, Pika identified everything by the way it smelled. She could also smell Cricky's scent, warm and comforting.... "Cricky?" "Don't be afraid" she heard him say..."You're coming to be with me now. Mom's going to help, because you can't do it by yourself, and you're hurting and tired. You'll go to sleep, and when you wake up, I'll be there". "Mom's crying" she thought back. "I don't want her to be sad". "It'll be okay. She's sad because she'll miss you, but she knows it's time for you to be with Star Clan, and she'll see you again someday". The next thing she knew, she got very sleepy, and felt herself drifting. All the pain and tiredness was gone. She opened her eyes...and SAW Cricky, and a lot of other gliders, outlined by starlight! Wait a minute....SAW??? "Cricky!" she said, jumping to her feet "I can see you!" "Welcome to Star Clan" he said, rubbing against her. You can see and your body is perfect again. You'll never know pain or hunger, or sickness, and someday Mom and all the other gliders we knew will join us here." Then Pika looked down at herself, and saw that she, too, was ringed with the light of the stars. She saw grass, and trees, and a beautiful bridge made from a rainbow. "Feel like a run?" she asked...and she and Cricky bounded off together, feeling like joeys, and knowing they'd see all those they loved again one day, and she knew Mom and Nara would care for each other. And she and Cricky would watch over them.

Jen, that's a beautiful tribute to Pika. It's a very sad story and I can't stop crying, but what a wonderful picture it created in my mind as Pika awakens to see her beloved Cricky and be able to run and play together with him once more.

That story was beautiful! I'm bawling.
This just saddens me so. Thank you for sharing the pictures Suz. She was such a special glider. Pika lived a long life and knew how much you loved her.
I'm so sorry for your loss. You all will be in my prayers.

Oh, I am so sorry. I know that it hurts. Keep reminding yourself that over time you'll be able to look back on all of the memories you have of her and Cricky and smile.
My thoughts are with you....
