I have had good luck with trios that are sisters that are born at the same time, never seperated, and very bonded. Both sets of sisters were 8-9 months old before intorducing a male. I have not had any problems whatsoever, but it has not been much more than a year that they have been together, so who knows in the future.

I would recommend NOT setting up a trio, because the stress level and worry are SOOOO much higher than with a pair. The stress is not worth it.

I have a neutered trio and a "breeding" trio. My trio just had their first set of babies and everything is going very well.

Some people have no luck and others have great success. My trio is working out very well and if anything ever went wrong I would rather neuter the male than seperate the 3.

I have a trio and they both became pregnant at the same time. One females joeys came out about 2 weeks before the other and she killed the 2nd mommys joey. I think she is the dominant female and I am seperating this trio and hope they all do OK when I do this. I know some people have no problems but for me I will not have a trio again. It was too hard losing that baby and entirely to stressful.

I have 2 sets of trio's. 1 set just had babies and everyone
is doing well. But only one female had a joey. The 2nd female thinks she's the baby's mommy and does all the babysitting, grooming and taking care of the joey. Daddy and the real mommy go out and eats and plays around. Then the 2nd mommy goes out when they come back to feed the little one. But all of them are all over me if I take the little baby out of the cage.
My 2nd set are just now getting to breeding age.

There are some breeders that have had trio's in the past and as the gliders get older they have had trouble with one or both mothers killing the babies. Then they end up separating the trio's. It gets very stressful for all who are involved.
Hope this info helps.

I also have a trio and things arent going so well for me, but that maybe because one of my females is very nervous. We have lost four joeys. Both my females are pregnant right now, so we will see how things go this time. But no matter what I am breaking up the trio, and allowing my nervous female to be just a pet. Motherhood is just not her thing. Hopefully things will go better for you!

I had a trio that did not work out. Both the females kept steeling eachothers joeys. If I were to try a trio again I would try it with twin sisters.. I have heard that it works better with twin sisters because they are so bonded from day 1.

I have a breeding trio and so far so good. The 2 females are a week apart from each other but got along perfectly as if they were sisters and grew up together. One of them has twins and the other one has just 1. I am noticing that they are a bit grumpy in the pouch, but other than that, they act fine. I hope I wont have to seperate them later due to problems, they all get along so well right now. I even made them a new bigger pouch that should hold everyone plus joeys. I even left the other smaller pouch in there as well in case one of them wants to get away from the others.

You should talk to Bitsy on this board, she has 48 breeding trios. She has had very good luck with them, I've seen her set-up. 48 breeding trios and no big problems.

Would it be possible to add an adult female to an existing male/female pair?

Have a trio that is just perfect together. One has a joey currently and loves her auntie. They all take care babysitting. "Auntie" is younger than "Mommy". Daddy seems to be quite happy with the arrangement!!:)

I tried to introduce another female into an already existing pair and it did not work out very well at all!! They were already set in their ways and did not want an intruder in their cage, let alone sitting next to them. They would reach through the cage and try to attack her while she was in another cage sitting next to them. They had been together already for 3 1/2 years tho, so depending on how young or old, it may or may not work to introduce another female into an already existing pair.

Since one of my females had joeys come oop on 10/21 I have changed my veiw on trios. Despite how things went the first time around, everything is going perfectly this time. Both the parents are very attentive and wonderful. And the other female is a great babysitter too! I really enjoy this arrangement bc there is usually always someone watching the joeys, and that just makes me feel better.

The past few months.. my plan has been to have a trio.. I raised a little girl up from day one, rejected, and always mine from the start.. and I bought an eight week old joey to put with her.. this has been three months ago.. and while they are in the same cage.. they just don't get along.. One is just a pushover I suppose.. and the other.. the younger one that I bought, not raised.. steals her food, and bites at her face if she tries to get in her own pouch that was hers before this other little girl came to live with us.. They've been together three months now.. and it's clear to me that.. while they might become ditant friends and tolerate each other.. they would NEVER be close enough to happily cohabitate with a third glider, a male.. and there would be nothing but headaches.. I'm certain of it. It's a little sad.. to let go of a plan you were set on.. but I agree.. the worry is just not worth it. I wouldn't try it if they were any other gliders.. but the one I raised from day one.. is far too precious to me to even risk it.. So while I seriously considered a trio.. I will begin to make plans to seperate these girls.. and figure out other alternative options from here on out.. Good Luck though.. to anyone who DOES try this out... Luv Ames!

My breeding trio has been prego with joeys in pouch. One of them had only 1 and the other has 2. The one with a single joey is joey free to run the cage now while her baby stays in the pouch. Whne i went to hold her , she went to crabbing and everyone came running to see what was going on and to make sure that she was ok. The other female .... her joeys should be oop any day now. I cant wait to see what she has. I think a trio is worth the effort and the time since they all got along so perfectly from day 1.

when the girls in a trio are raised together right from birth or soon after the chance of it working is that much better.
You can always be prepared for the possibility just incase one of the girls becomes more alpha tho.
If the male will nuetered you won't have to worry about that tho.

I have a trio, I'm curious how things will go for me. My male is only 4 months old, and I have a mother-daughter pair, all together in one cage. The baby is finally weaned, and I'm planning on keeping her. Maybe in a year we'll have some babies.
