no, it's not the same as a rodent, which teeth grow and grow. i know they do like eucalyptus though, they peel off the bark and stuff and it cleans their teeth i hear, as well as it repels, fleas, ticks, and mites, and it smells good. so it's a win for everyone! suggies love it!

Gliders have a fixed set of teeth. These are there when they come oop, and they remain for live. Unlike rodents, they do NOT continue to grow; therefore, you should never have your glider's teeth floated or trimmed.
They should be given glider safe branches as a means to "brush" their teeth. Eucalyptus chew sticks are great for this, and even euc. branches--they'll peel the bark off. These can be purchased at eucproducts.com. The exoskeleton in bugs, such as your mealies, also aid in brushing.

their teeth do not grow... but they do enjoy things to chew on for stimulation. a lot of vets who aren't familiar with gliders will offer to file their teeth for you... this is bad bad bad! my vet offered that so I took him some "proof" off the internet that their teeth didn't grow. wood products should be offered for stimulation though. do make sure that the wood the product is made of is safe. you can find lists of safe woods on this site =)

Thanks, when I got my glider I went on line to the ssite that the breeder has and they wrote that they do grow, now I have learned much more from this site and feel safe when I ask a question, thanks for the input I will have to order a few things on line that I don't have.

Oh, that's so sad. Think of all those poor gliders that may be getting their teeth filed or clipped. Maybe you could pass along some info to the breeder to let them know that their information may be a little "outdated" (that way you're not outright telling them they're wrong, just that "new information" has come about!).
