Oh my goodness! We do need to meet soon! It would be so nice to see people in my area (Edwardsville, IL 20 min outside STL). I am always free on Sundays guys. Maybe sometime in July or maybe even early August?

Ok - it seems to me as if there are contingencies of glider slaves in the Southern part of IL - near St. Louis, and contingencies of slaves in the Northern part, around Chicago. Then there are those of you in the Center.
Since the State is very L oooo nnnn g ... Let's plan 2 get togethers! The northern part, and the southern part! And the centrals can go either way! Of course, all are invited to either, in my dream world!
It seems easier than planning the big get together for the entire state, which no one really wants to undertake.
For people in the Oswego, Sycamore, Aurora, Elgin, Schaumburg, Chicago area - we could just plan to get together once a quarter? It doesn't have to be a big "to do." Just an afternoon of sitting amongst like-minded people chatting and having fun.
What do ya'll think?

OH I live in the Joliet/Plainfield/Shorewood area. (You cross the street in either direction and your in a different city, lol) For the most part I grew up in Illinois, and know the surrounding areas pretty good at least I like to think so.
~~Yaniah~~
Now that all my children are older ( I had my own liter, literately) I am getting back into gliders again.

Val, I think that's a GREAT idea and would LOVE to do a get-together...so count me in! For once I wouldn't get people rolling their eyes, or PRETENDING to listen to me when I talk forever about what everybody thinks are my little "monkeys."

If someone would tell me what sort of things are expected at these things, I'd try to organize one!
Are they held in homes? In Restaurants? Do people bring their Suggies? What sort of activities happen? What sort of things do I need to plan?

I would say to do some presentations, like E-collar, administering meds, that kind of stuff.... maybe nail trims, little stuff like that is what I was thinking about doing. Then just have the rest of the day to sit around and visit. and yes, most people do bring their suggies to something like that.

Jeni- I go to this one: The Animal Dr http://www.glidercentral.net/links/noinfo.php600 industrial Dr #L Cary, Il 60014 847-576-8190. It is in Cary. That's the word I couldn't think of earlier! Cary! Is it Midwest Animal Exotics that told you they'd have to use anesthesia?

OH- I was wrong then. It is Midwest Animal Exotics that I've heard good things about. How far are they from you? Animal Dr. doesn't see a whole lot of gliders. The vet is very good, but not the most experienced with gliders. I do have to kind of remind her of what I want her to do. Like I always make sure to ask for the fecals. And when I had Rocket neutered, I asked her to leave the pom on, but forgot to ask with Jack and she took it off. Jack is just fine, but it is a preference of mine. So I can tell them apart. I would say that they are very competent, but not awe inspiring.

Well, I'm still hoping to have a Chicago-area glider get together!
I live right by Spring Hill Mall. I just feel so insecure about hosting a get together! My house is always a dump ...
