I felt people may be interested in seeing this pic, I couldnt face posting it before now as I was so upset when it happened. This little joey was on the way to Miahs pouch when sadly it fell off, I found it later that day on the cage floor. It was Damiens (my 9 week oop joey) twin. Its so amazing to see how developed it was. I hope I havent upset anyone by posting it but thought it would be educational. Sorry its a bit blurred but it was only about 1/8th of an inch. http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g142/sharon1967/ResizeWizard-1-5.jpg

Tillie - Thanks for posting it.
To me, it isn't as amazing how developed they are, as how UN-developed they are! When joeys move to the pouch, they really are still in a fetus state. They don't just grow in the pouch - they continue to develop. The pouch is like a womb ...
I love your comments about Damien's name ... very funny!

Tillie, I am sorry for your loss of this little joey. As Alsen said they do truly continue to devlop in the pouch, I think it's amazing how developed they are when they migrate to the pouch though. I think this will help educate others, and I thank you as well for posting, I'm sure it was difficult for you.

Oh sad, but thank you for posting them. My sug has her first pair IP and yesterday when I was holding her she started cleaning one of the joeys and he looked just like the one you have pictured SugarBaby22. Sorry again for both of your loses.

I'm so sorry for your loss. SugarBaby, I had something similar happen with a joey, though I didn't get to it in time to take it away from the mom before she ate it...I know this is graphic, but I walked up to the cage just as she was biting the head off. It was soooooo horrific! The joey didn't seem to be as developed as the one you have pictured. I witnessed the birth of our joey that just came OOP 2 weeks ago, and the joey that was eaten looked barely larger and more developed than the "newborn".
