My joeys just came out of pouch on the 27th and so far mom and dad are taking great care of the little ones but i noticed the male the first joey oop does not ever seem to have a full belly like his sister. Should i air on the side of coution and slip a few supp feedings in? There is no signs of rejection but not sure if brother is getting enough to eat. If i do need to slip in a few feedings should i do both or just him and how offten. I dont want mom to think im taking over but do want him to be healthy.

Ok
I would not supplement unless you see signs like both parents leaving the joeys alone at less than a week. If you hear the joeys crying for mom and she doesn't rush back to the pouch is another thing to watch for. Get a gram scale and weigh the joeys. They should gain at least two grams the first four days.

Thanks so much for the advice. Mom and dad are being great so far hardly leaving the pouch and if i hold the joeys and they start crying mom and dad are right there licking and making sure im not harming there little ones. I will watch and make sure they grow i was just worried he was not getting enough milk.

Since the parents are actively caring for them, I agree with Sheila - keep an eye on their weight and make sure they are gaining over the next few days.

Ok i put them on a scale and the boy is 12 grams and the girl is 10 should i be worried? i thought they should be at least 12 grams coming out of pouch. I do have everything i need to sup feed if need be but there are no signs of mommy rejecting the babies in fact she is doign very well i just worry they are not getting enough milk. I have my gliders on the exotic glider diet but i just ran out and am making more and buying more vitts from pracillas but in the mean time they still get a good diet of fruit and vegs and calcium and mealworms.

It is not unusual for one joey to weigh a gram or two more than the other one. Keep weighing them daily to make sure that neither one starts losing weight. They should both gain a couple of grams within 3-4 days. If weight loss, or no gain, occurs, then you may consider supplementing, but I wouldn't start it yet until you have further indication that it's truly needed.

Ok i weighed the little ones just a bit ago and the little girl has gained 2 grams and now weighs 12 grams but the boy is still the same. both are active and mommy and daddy are still good parents. When should i be worried about the little boy still weighing the same.

If he hasn't gained at least 2 grams over 3 or 4 days that's when to start worrying wink

The little male still has not gained weight. They came oop on the 27th. The female has gained 2 grams but nothing on the male. The female always looks like she has a full belly but not the male. Mom and dad are taking good care of them but im not sure he is getting enough milk. Should i start supp? Id rather sneak a few feedings in then have him grow week. What should i do?

Since he is still not gaining weight, then I would start to supplement feed both of them. Start each feeding with the little girl so the male has a better chance of getting milk from the mother, then feed the male. Do this 2-3 times per day and continue to monitor their weights.

Ok thank you so much. hunni is taking such good care of her babies i almost feel guilty for having to sneak a few feedings in. Could it be that sence she is sucha new mommy she is just not making enough milk for both? Aside from the milk issiu both babies look great. Mommy is always curled up holding both of them. I will deff keep watching there weight

thanks so much
