K guys here is my post for today lol.I am a really good seamstress and want to make my own pouches and toys I have alot of extra fleece from doing misc projects in the past. I need to know where could i get the clips that are used for hanging these and what safe types of cording could I use ie: small rope, ribbon,or cording.

Those clips are found in the fabric department at Walmart, as well as fabric stores, Michael's, any other craft supply store. I found mine at Walmart, they come in a package of 24 clips.

Happy Sewing!

I think there's a reason people use the word "seamstress" or "tailor" instead of "sewer", lol.

Try Joann fabrics and crafts, they have a lot of useful stuff there.

As far as cording - stay far away from that satin stuff - it's pretty but it doesn't wash well. I always look at it & ask myself, "Does this look like something that a lil nail would snag?" I've really only found 3-4 types of cording that I feel comfortable with. There kinda here & there too - I get one from Walmart, one from Hancock & a couple from JoAnns.

Yup, lanyard clips. They're pretty cheap and work well.

Monster, what are the types of cording that you use? Leather? Plastic? Cotton? I've read other posts where they say satin ribbon works well. When you say "no" to the satin stuff, is this what you're talking about? And is that satin ribbon folks are talking about the kind you use to wrap around packages? I'm still unclear on what's best to bead stuff with.

Monster uses either a nylon cord or cotton cord that is tightly braided. I have trouble finding any that doesn't snag easy though. The satin ribbon is not the kind to wrap packages with but the satin ribbon found in the fabric section of Walmart or other fabric stores.
I use either 1/8th inch or 1/4th inch satin ribbon. It is easy to get tied nice and tight. Comes in lots and lots of colors that don't fade and the toys hang/dangle well from them. The plastic lanyard cord works but it is hard to tie tight, can break fairly easy, and stretches over a small amount of time. You can also use what is called Gross Grain ribbon (also in the fabric stores). Just remember if you use ribbon to cut the ends at an angle to prevent them from freying.

Ah, many thanks, Dancing! I was reading additional posts and saw that it's not the package-wrapping ribbon you and others were talking about. I was sure wondering about that one.

Before I race back down to Walmart (I was just there yesterday--I should buy stock in that store), are the different colors all safe? Or should I just get white? I imagine the colors are safe or you would've said something...

What's the difference in gross grain ribbon and the satin ribbon?

Do you just tie a knot at the end (if you're beading) or stick a dollup of hot glue in the bead and tuck the ribbon in? Or both?

The gros grain is much much more sturdy than the satin type, and it doesn't unravel nearly as bad. Only drawback I see if using it for toys would be...it may not hang as loosely as the satin ribbon does. HTH!

It sure does, thanks!

How do you finish off the end (with beading)? Do you just tie a knot and cut at an angle and leave it long enough to keep cutting should it get frayed? Or glue it? Or stick a bell or something on the end and glue it inside the bell?

I was talking about satin cording, not ribbon. The cording looks all pretty when you first make things out of it, but the second you wash it, it frays something awful! Then you either have to take apart your toy/pouch and remake it (who wants to do that) or stop using it all together because frayed stuff is not suggie safe!

Well, I just got back from Walmart (again!). I asked if they had gros grain ribbon or satin ribbon. She pointed me to an aisle with polyester. Is that the same as satin ribbon?

Also, I'm still wondering how you folks finish off the end of the strand. Glue gun? Just a simple knot? BML (it's nice and sticky)?

I use the satin ribbon and after I have the length I need I tie a knot at the end and burn it with a lighter or match so that it won't come untied...my little furbys like to untie the knots on their toys and pouches so I have to make sure they don't come untied....it kinda melts like plastic!
