So my roommate surprised myself and my boyfriend "Hey guys, I'm moving back in with my parents at the end of the month." So the past week I've been packing like crazy, and before that week was midterms. Long story short: I have had NO time to play with the babies, other than them sitting in their pouch in my lap while I do homework. There are boxes everywhere and no place to put the tent. I had a bonding pouch, but since it was made in my early sewing days, it fell apart after I washed it. Today was the first day I've been off, I'm going to try to whip out a bonding pouch so I can at least carry them around. I am just worrying that all bonding we've done is destroyed. Another question: What's the best way to reduce the stress of the moving other than not washing any of their pouches and things? The new house has a big walk in closet that will totally be devoted to the little monkeys, I'm so excited. I hope they still love me in 12 days.

To reduce the stress of moving, get some new toys and treats and save them for the first night in the new place. They get so engrossed with the new toy(s) and/or treats, that they don't seem to notice the move as much. I did this when I moved mine from wire cages to reps, and when traveling, and it always works wonderfully!

When we moved I didn't bother to clean the cage or move any of their stuff out ahead of time. We figured having familiar sights and smells in the new apartment would ease the adjustment and transition. On the drive to the apartment, I wore them in a bonding pouch. When we arrived the cage was unloaded first, and we just stuck their bonding pouch inside and everyone did fine.

Don't worry, they'll still know you (just keep your lotion and clothing detergent the same ). Relax and try to get through this move as painless as you can (though that isn't easy. I know. I've moved six major times). Once you get settled, bonding pouch and tent time are in order!
