I have never had allergies in my life. For the past 3-4 weeks I have been sick with congestion and coughing. I was put on antibiotics a week ago, but I'm still not better. I was fine all day today, but as soon as my gliders woke up, I started coughing. I don't sneeze, or itch... And I have had them for 2 years, and never had any problems. But I do have a joey who is now 5 months and just started scent marking. Could it be him that I am reacting to? I never reacted to his dad. I just can't figure out why I have been sick for so long. And it seems to get worse at night.
If not the gliders...what else could it be?

I have NEVER been allergic to anything but just these past 2years i have started having sinus and allergy troubles. Im betting your just now having issues like that but nothing glider related. Just my guess.....that your just developing sensitivity to the usual pollution and pollens in the air

You know what? I've done the same thing - I was antibiotics and it still has not cleared. More than likely, it is just standard allergies, which are horrible this year, and the glider fur/dander/dust just aggravates it. I am allergic to one glider, but just her claws...

Antibiotics won't solve allergy problems. You should try something designed for allergies and see if that helps. My daughter was told by one dr for six weeks she just had a cold(same symptoms)and it would go away. He did put her on antibiotics to make me feel better(amoxycillin, the cureall for everything from a hang nail to pneumonia for everyone under the age of 18) and it didn't touch the symptoms. I took her to a different dr. who put her on Zyrtec, and her symptoms were gone within a couple of days... Good luck! This time of year is awful anyway. My ex husband didn't have one single day of allergies til he moved to TN, now he suffers the same things every single year!

I never had allergies up until two years ago. They seem to be getting worse the stymptoms also seem to be lasting longer each year. It's not fun and I wish you luck in finding relief!

I am allergic to one glider, but just her claws... My arms get red where the gliders' claws scratch, but I doubt it has anything to do with allergies. Gliders touch their food with their hands and also step on their poo/pee(that lands on the cage bars or in their wheels). I think it's just cause they're not super sanitary, not cause you're allergic.

Wouldn't I have itchy or watery eyes and also sneeze? I thought those were the staple allergy symptoms. I don't have that at all. I just keep coughing and coughing. My throat is itchy. When I try to talk, I cough. And I wake up conjested. Tell me if I am wrong here, because allergies are a mystery to me. But it seems weird that I am not sneezey or anything and it only happens at night.
If it is allergies...what medication is good?

I have a bottle of hand sanitizer in every room. It's an automatic for me to reach for one and apply a big amount to my hands and arms after handling my gliders. I use to have horribly red and painful bumps and scratches. Now I seldom have either.
